Jimmy

Good cop
Here on the forum, some of our members are renowned for their peculiar, left-field and often fetishistic passions...

Pav and his carbon-wrapping of anything that stays still long enough
Gordini and his stripes. On anything that stays still long enough
Shuv and his OCD/orange accessories/car cleanliness
Chris and his Dyson products
Micah and his prejudicial hatred for all things 'chav'
Big Ben and his support of the Gooners (well, someone has to...)
Nutnutwelshman and..... oh come on, you really need me to remind you???

This week's Member of the Moment @///M though has altogether more down to earth and socially acceptable passions: Beer and Germany's finest, carbon-enhanced performance BMW 3 series. Proper.

Still, that doesn't excuse him from allowing his significant other to name his R27 after a Championship football club... You wear the trousers, but she tells you which ones, right?

Describe yourself in 3 words:
Maximise fun time

Current car:
E46 M3 CS
http://www.clio197.net/threads/e46-m3-cs.55000/

But we all know I’m here for Tractor Boy
http://www.clio197.net/threads/tractor-boy.55496/

First car:
A red 1975 Hillman Imp Coupé. It was awesome. Perfect first car. Wish I still had it. Rear engined, rear wheel drive. Handled great. Really fun to drive. Oh and the rear window opened on a hinge at the top like a snack bar.

Not my car below but it looked very similar but with a white roof and the rest of the body was red:
imp.jpg

Why you love clio197.net:
In a world where most people wouldn’t pee on you if you were on fire, it gives me faith that there is still hope for humaity. Friendly, helpful and just a wealth of good advice. Basically a really top bunch of folks.

Favourites

Food
Steak. Is this a trick question? Had one last night. Medium rare, peppercorn sauce, beef dripping fries… mmm…

Drink
Tough one to answer, I’m a genuine booze geek of all varieties. My favourite drink ever has died because a big evil company bought out the brewery that made it. If I had to pick one, Westvleteren Abt 12… or Orval. See I can’t pick one… Chin chin.

Holiday destination:
West Coast of the US. Amazing people, roads (seriously), beaches, food, booze, scenery and so diverse depending on where you are. All with a 5ltr V8 soundtrack and mostly with the top down. Happy place for sure.

Film:
Moon. Well shot, superb acting in a one man show, excellent Clint Mansell soundtrack, really well written and I did NOT see that twist coming. Great film.

Film star:
Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny. I mean… good god.

Sport:
Tough call between football and F1 but I think football just shades it. More amazing moments and F1 has been pants for years.

Hobby:
Sometimes I paint stuff…
paint.jpg

Pornstar:
Don’t have one. Honestly. I’m married.

TV show:
Pretty much don’t watch tv at all. Sport (mostly motorsport) and the odd bit of Family Guy / American Dad / Bob’s Burgers while eating and that’s it.

TV presenter/personality:
Given what I just said above, ermmm… Oh yeah, Hayley McQueen. She’ll do.

Song:
Answered this last as it was the hardest question… but… possibly…
https://youtu.be/-qzapGy-GNI

Band:
Pontiak. You’ll probably all hate this
https://youtu.be/sVEMt_yHDSs

Computer game:
Elite. Let’s see how many of you are old enough to remember that one.

As for new stuff, Gran Turismo, I can drive my car round the Nordschleife, what’s not to love? And Mrs M and I play the hell out of Rayman. 2 player co-op is amazing fun.

Website (other than 197.net):
YouTube, obviously. In fact I think that everyone should ditch their TV package and watch YouTube instead and not the suggested stuff either. Choose what you actually want. If you can’t think of anything, you should do something else. I’d rather be entertained and educated in the manner of my choosing, rather than being force fed so I try and keep the idiot box off as much as possible. Rant over

Dream 3 car garage:
1 - Ferrari 250 GTO S2
https://youtu.be/KHgD0wJGcR0

2 - Manhart MH3 V10

3 - Sauber C11

Fantasy Partner to:
Marry:
Ha, I’m married…
Have a one night stand with: Yeah, same answer.

Celebrity I'd most like to punch:
Don’t really know many. Off the top of my head, James Corden. Actually, does Trump count? A punch isn’t really good enough though is it? He should have all his skin peeled off and then be dragged through the street by his tiny balls while people throw salt on him like a slug.

One thing I am excellent at:
Getting away with stuff. Seriously. I have a knack.

One thing I am terrible at:
Pulling my bloody finger out! Procrastinator extraordinaire.

Proudest moment:
Wedding day

Most embarrassing moment:
Don’t really have one.

Pet hate:
People who have no respect for others. A recent widespread epidemic unfortunately.

Favourite chat up line:
Ha, ok, now I KNOW these questions are written for someone younger than me! I’ve not needed one of these for a long, long time. One of the benefits of being older and married is that “Fancy the pub?” usually works.

Favourite joke:
Let’s do favourite funny man instead. Bad language warning…

Question from @KYFO.CO.UK : If you were stuck in a lift for 4 hours and could choose a person to be stuck with, famous or otherwise, who would it be and why?
Frank Zappa. Because he’d be amazing to have a deep conversation with, he’d make me laugh and he could bang out an amazing guitar solo to keep me amused.

Member who you would like to nominate to be interviewed next:
@Dystant because his posts sum up this place well. Lots of car stuff, maintenance and mods, he’s always helpful and gives a bit of banter.

Question to ask that person: If you had a time machine, where would be the first time you went to and why, and who would you take with you?

Thanks very much to Mes for taking part, loving the illustrative additions! Dale, you'll have the questions in your PM inbox shortly...

Oh and also thanks to @Jimmy for putting this post together after I gave him so much work to do with all the links!

Absolute pleasure Mes, great material to work with! Loving the Pontiak track, right up my street!

Possibly the best gig I've ever been to was Pontiak at Ramsgate Music Hall. They absolutely smashed it and at the end the whole band jumped into the audience and shook the hand of every single person in there and thanked them for coming. Cost the princely sum of a whole five of the Queen's pounds too!

To make it even better, they've now opened an awesome brewery and we've become good friends. Really fantastic folks.

Oh and that whole album is MINT. Well worth a listen.

I've never heard of them, I assume they're not on a major label or anything then?

They're on Thrill Jockey. Not a huge label but if you're into that sort of stuff, they're reasonably well known.

Well I don't know much about that being totally honest, but I do like finding out about new bands, especially that type of music.

There's a LOT of their stuff on YouTube mate. Some of it's pretty out there, some of it's heavy as hell and some is just tuneful and nice. Really great band.

Ah! I'm a Sandwich lad!

Nice! We once spent an entire journey to Belgium discussing what the world would have been like if the Earl of Sandwich actually came from Asse in Belgium...

"Would you like sauce on your asse?"

"Would you like a banana in your asse?"

"Do you like your asse buttered?"

Etc.

Anyway, next time we're down, we should grab a jar mate. :thumb:
