Acetone or more easily to get hold of nail polish remover will do the job and evaporate easily.

Yep, I got that and s**t myself!
Why I asked in the thread that you linked in, I fixed it but in the end I just bought one from Renault, as I thought it's only £35 and another thing to not worry about.

I'm normally good at taking stuff apart and checking how it went back, but the spring pinged out so in my haste I looked for that and the other bit came apart...doh.
