Map sensor mod? what is it...

Hi I've just picked up my 197 and it has the slow speed kangaroo issues I've read so much about, I keep seeing mention of the MAP sensor and talk of silicone and zip ties but I've used the search function on here and on google but I can't find out what the mod involves? any help would be much appreciated :thumb:

Essentially the Map sensor is a poor fit. Rumour has it that the Clio Cup car manual suggests cable tieing the Map sensor down to stop any air bypass to give an accurate reading. For me, its one step further than that as it needs to also be level to get the best seal.

Try turning ignition on for 30 - 40 seconds before starting your engine, this works for me to avoid the kangarooing.

Check out a guy on Instagram called ‘clio3rs200’ he actually produces and sells a machined bracket specifically designed to combat this issue! I just ordered mine, £22 all in, he seems to be doing really well from it, lots of happy customers and great feedback on his feed!

I tried the cable tie and didn’t make any difference. I find leaving the car running for a minute or 2 before driving and running on Vpower helps minimise it

Pics of mine recently fitted on my last post here: https://clio197.net/threads/shuvs-racing-blue-200.52286/page-138

It's a tad crude IMO. In terms of fixing. The machining etc is spot on. You will 100% need loctite on the top two grub-screws. Whether its crude but effective remains to be seen......

A guy called Stephen Venning has some coming that will be an altogether different class i'm sure. Will be around the £50 - and sold via the RS197/200 facebook group. I'll be buying one of those i think; both for looks and the Engineering solution.

I bought one for about £6 posted off a chap on Facebook. Only 3d plastic printed but does the job of A) keeping the Map sensor level providing a seal between the sensor and fitting hole and B) keeping it in one place. Its not brilliant as it still needs a ziptie. Importantly though, a ziptie makes the Map sensor sit at an angle leaving a bit of a gap between sensor and hole.
