Low entry jacks

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll be ordering the sgs one then.

they should be fine..i've got just a basic one and have had no issues..although i have to use the one in the boot to lift the car up a bit when removing my front wheels as they are a bit low :tongue_smilie:
The front wheels are the ones causing the most trouble Pav! With my normal jack I have to drive up on bricks as it just won't fit underneath. Hopefully the new jack should change all that :smiley:

Lol I had an issue with mine also, my drive is gravel, literally had to scrape every last little stone out and the jack just went under! I could do with a low entry one also..

I have the SGS one but pad is a little small and didn't feel it was ultra safe with the clio jacking points. Bought a SIP low entry to use instead. Think it was about £100. Very good jack.

Did you use the small rubber puck mate?

possibly too late but can't recall that it came with a rubber puck?
No worries. I did get a rubber puck with it even though it didn't state anywhere that it was supplied with the jack. Good thing I didn't spend the extra £5 ordering one from the site!

I have this, both for Clio and race car. Not particularly cheap, although it is for a lightweight Jack. Probably a bit overkill if you're not having to cart it about all the time, but it's bloody good:

I've just chucked mine away. The locking mechanism broke. (It's a popular jack with Elise owners too, but again there are anecdotal reports about longevity being poor). Also I was forever having to tighten up the bolts holding the front roller in place.

I've replaced it with this:

It's /very/ low entry, appears to be well built, but bloody hell is it heavy in comparison to the machine mart one.

@DS197

Presume you got one of these in the end from your posts. All ok ? Im now in the same boat and need something lower......

I did indeed go for that one, solid piece of kit. I must have used it at least 30 times already not a single problem thus far. I got a small rubber puck which sits in the cup at the front, it's not a perfect fit but it's sat in there tight from the weight of the car. Definitely worth the price!
