Low battery warning

So I got the warning the first time and I replaced the regulator inside the alternator (it was missing 1 whole brush), after replacing it upon startup no warning light, but then about 15-20 minutes into the drive the warning light appeared again, I shut the car off and turned it back on and the warning light was gone. It happened like that 3 times before I came home.
Anyone know anything about that? Didn't notice any electrical issues, engine running fine, lights weren't dimming or anything like that.

I have a video I could send somebody if they know anything.

Clio 197s/200s are really difficult when trying to replace the original alternator. We replaced the voltage regulator and continued to get the same warning messages. The messages only stopped when we managed to find a second hand OEM alternator on FaceBook.

Read on from this post.

Other people have had a similar problem after replacing the regulator, even though the battery is charging. Some people just put up with the warning messages.

These seem to be temperamental when it comes to alternators, specifically using genuine parts. First thing to do is get a voltmeter on the battery and check the voltage with the engine off, then again with engine running. That'll tell you if your fix has worked. I've seen people replace the regulator and the voltages are fine but they still got the battery warning light.

With the engine off its 13.19 and with it on its 13.80. Is that fine or not?

A healthy alternator should be in the range of 13.5v to 14.5 or so I think. Thats measuring with a multimeter at the battery terminals. I’m getting low battery warning light issues at the minute also. It’s been fluctuating as low as 11.9 and as high as 14.8 so I’ve just ordered a genuine Bosch voltage regulator which I’ll replace without having to remove the alternator (hopefully!) If that doesn’t solve it, I’ll likely refurbish my alternator.

Thanks for the tip, ill have to figure out what it is... I tested for AC ripple, nothing wrong there... next step would be the warning circuit itself I guess, will check other options before that.

I had a similar battery issue, changed the regulator for a genuine one and didn't work. In the end I found a genuine second hand alternator from a Renault specialist (luckily I live close to them) and that fixed it.

Yeah pretty sure there isn’t a fix for mine either so ill have to look into where to buy a second hand alternator. Thanks
