Knocking noise.

Got this weird knocking noise coming from the N/S/F. Its only when going over gentle bumps and makes this quite heavy knocking noise. Had a quick look at roll bar links and the bottom ball joint and it looked ok. Any common failures ?

Try your top mounts .

If I jack the vehicle up and take the weight off the struts, do you think I would be able to feel any play in the top mount?

If it's the top mounts, then you would notice it pretty quickly with the car off the ground. Also check that the spring hasn't snapped, quite common at the moment as the roads are in rubbish condition!

Chance to be your drop links mine done this i changed both side and it solved the knock and transformed the handling

I'm getting a similar noise and not sure what it is. Thought it could be exhaust being loose but not so sure now

Check the plastic around the spring hasn't popped out, as it creates a metal on metal clunk when the spring unloads - jack up pop the wheel off and reinsert if it has - easy fix if the case (had the same problem on mine)
