Juk3sy's Deep Black 200

Well I have had my 200 for just over a year now so I thought I would make a short post regarding her progress.

I didn't really have any plans when the car was purchased and in reality didn't know as much about Clio's as I should have before buying (apart from the rave reviews)

So when I picked her up she was a low spec deep black FF with cup chassis.

Such a happy new owner!

If I had to admit to one failing it would be that I struggle to leave things alone, so the first thing I did after getting her home was to start hunting for Recaro's

I sourced a set from a forum member who was trading his car in, who very generously met me at work and swapped the seats over! He even threw in a sunglasses holder! Top Man!
That was probably the best decision I have ever made, they improve the car so much in my opinion.

Since purchase the car had a few little niggles, minor stuff really, one being a non standard head unit. Long story short (long version here
) I eventually got hold of an original item which included the RS Monitor, a nice little upgrade.

Most of the maintenance work that has been required has been fairly standard, I had the NS Hub lower ball joint replaced, at the same time I replaced both front dampers (one had a weeping seal) and as luck would have it I purchased some eibach springs, which was good because it turned out I had been rolling around on a broken front spring! I replaced the front discs with Brembo High Carbon's, fitted Hel braided lines and Mintex 1144 pads, which are a bit squeely but stop extremely well. At this time the fantastic spacers I purchased from Raptor went on and I was happy with the way she sat.

There was one piece of work I had not expected to have to deal with, I purchased the car having had its cambelt etc done so was very unhappy to find the non oem water pump was leaking and I would require the lot doing again. I was less than impressed!

Clouds and Silver linings and all that, when I had the work done by a Renault Specialist he found my timing was a little out so with this adjusted she ran a little better after the work. I took the opportunity to get some powerflex mounts fitted while this was being done. With this complete I was mostly happy again. Mostly.

I had always liked the look of Speedlines but was not a huge fan of the black wheels black car look, I think Clio's need some contrast to look their best. I spent some time hunting for Megane F1 18's with the intention of fitting those when tyres were due (Still have them in the garage in need of a refurb) I didn't do much more about wheels until as luck would have it a set of Soeedlines finished in anthracite appeared on the forums! It was fate!

So these were promptly purchased and after a bit of messing around and a full refurb (Looked like Parcel Force rolled them to my address, worst delivery ever) I had them fitted with some new Goodyear Eagle F1 AS3's all round.

So I'm quite happy at the moment but as I said I can't leave things alone, so maybe a sprint spoiler, maybe some anthracite paint on the door handles and bullets, maybe an Akrapovic or maybe a megane turbo engine... who knows.

Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.

It's only at most a 15-20mm drop I think, not much at all. I am still toying with the idea of some cooksports or H and R's or even B14's. Sadly I live in an area blessed with many pot holes and speed bumps.

Very nice 200 and in the best colour of course

It's a shame you had to have the belts done again, that's rotten luck...but great that you got the timing sorted, very nice little bonus.

So this happened the other day...

I had the full evolution system fitted and I must say what a fantastic noise! Smiles per gallon has increased 10 fold!

My friends mobile valet company were out at my work yesterday so I asked him to grab a few pictures of the car for me before it got filthy on the way home.

I think she scrubs up quite well for just a hand wash and wax! Could do with a one stage machine polish to get a few swirls out and don't even talk to me about the small ding in the drivers door...

I've got my eye on some B14's to try and squeeze that arch gap down a little, and maybe some projector headlights.

I would appreciate any suggestions for other mods.

Cheers

looks really smart with the speedlines. B14's would be a good move, coupled with Powerflex torque mount and lower mount would firm up the drive nicely.

If it was me I would leave it as it is in terms of ride height it looks fit for purpose - but then again i'm 44 and my days of bouncing around are pretty much done. I've had a lowered car my whole life up till my R27 and i'm enjoying a (little) bit of comfort. Have you thought about carbon rear diffuser? could be cool..

Beautiful, DB really does look good when it's clean. Possibly a spoiler would finish it off nicely?

Thanks guys @Jimmy I'm considering a sprint spoiler, maybe in anthracite, would need to photoshop that before taking the leap. @KYFO.CO.UK I'm quite happy with the contrast on the rear diffuser in anthracite, but know what you mean about hard suspension. I have heard the ride on B14's is surprisingly good though.
@Sean197 Have both those mounts fitted, I think it made a great difference, just waiting to get the gearbox mount fitted now.

Something has come up unexpectedly that I couldn't turn down, so I'm afraid to say the Clio will be going. I had planned on a much longer ownership, but things don't always turn out as expected.

I am currently selling the car as in this progress thread, and will put an advert up later today. If I don't manage to get any interest I will be removing the Akrapovic, Speedlines and Recaro's and selling separately.

Don't worry, i'm not straying far!
