It's died

Hi all

I don't often post, but need to get out my frustration.

Was driving my 197 into town last Monday doing about 50mph, and suddenly lost all power smoke coming from the engine and bits felt like they were flying out of the exhaust :worried:

Got It towed to the garage. They opened her up and have said it needs a new engine as one of the pistons has disintegrated and that's what the bits were coming out of the exhaust, it's only 4 years old and done 36,000 miles.

So gutted, not sure what to do, has any one else ever had an issue like this ?

full service history? with renault? then phone renault uk and ask for help!

engine should last easy 100000miles with correct maintenance so to fail at 36k should get something from them!

First one I've heard of with a piston going, usually it's the belts go and hell lets lose or a few in europe have had bottom end issues.

If you're in the UK even though it's out of warranty you might want to speak to Renault Customer Services if it's been services per the book it shouldnt be letting for at that age and certainly not at those miles so it should warrant some contribution form them.

/edit beat by the fox, swift as ever
