Is this a good price???

Hi guys. I have been looking on broadspeed.com etc etc for a while to find a decent price on a brand new Renault clio 200 non cup version but with add cup suspension and black wheels etc. I have just been into a local showroom and they have a red baron in there which is Mint.

Very nice. Trouble is I have to buy the car on finance as I dont have enough saved yet.

Its a flame red 200 with added cup suspension, black wheels, carbon fibre trim on the radio, dash etc; price is about 18,000.

Is this too much? I know there was a price rise recently.

After putting down a deposit, I can get the finance at 1% over 5 years. Which equates to 300 a month. I can afford this no worries.

However when compared to broadspeed etc the price of the car goes down significantly, I can obviously get a lower price. However, factoring in the finance which is normally around 10% I am probarbly going to pay nearer twenty by the time I pay off the car.

I should clarify and say I just want to buy the car over five years. No fancy 3 years options blah blah blah.

This car is brand new unregistered. I am thinking of buying it.

Please give me your opinions!

I'd Be smart and buy a decent 197 just as good (despite what people say) and good ones are 10-12k

Let the your wrong 200's are way better comments roll in

over priced mate, ( i would say ).

pop over on renault sport forum and you will get one for £15,000-£16,000 brand new. some great deals pop up over there.

HTH.

Not up to speed on prices but I wouldn't pay that for a 200, regardless of how good they are. I would be looking at a used one or a late 197 and bank some coin.

Yeah I am on the renault sport forum as well. I have posted similiar.

Its the finance that seems to push the price up. And the price has gone up recently on all 200's

Price went up in Q2 by about £750 per car

listen to what people are saying mate it's overpriced I recently went to test drive a 200 speced on up White recaros folding mirrors cup pack and it was £15400 bargin !

But IMO not worth the change .

Call wests kings Lynn and ask for Sam townsend tell him arron sent you and he will give you a good deal . He's the rs specialist over there and a friend of mine

Google wests of kings Lynn

Hth

I'd say overpriced, i got quoted 14k on a fully loaded 200.

But chose a 197 instead, i couldnt see or feel the difference (apart from the ugly front) I prefer my 197, for starters its mine and not the finance companies. :tongueout:

I think most people who do actually say its good and different have traded their 197's in and don't want to admit that the money they wasted on the exact same car wasn't worthwhile. lol.

^^ the above is so true .

The good old placebo effect .

197 no finance
or
200 with finance

It's a no brainer 197 all day long

...where is this car...they have one the same in SJCook Kingswood.....if it is the same car, I got them down to 16k before opting to order a storm grey car....by the way, my car is for sale, is mint and a bargain....will negotiate on price...check out the link!

Dont buy new let someone else suffer the initial big depreciation + get a 197 - better looking front end and go on holiday with the saving - or spend it on a few extra's...
That white 197 looks great at £10K - yummy !

lol...looks like your all 197 fans... I will stick with a 200 I think. I want the warranty. And I want a car that hasnt been thrashed.

I waiting to hear back from sam in kings lynn. Will update ya soon.

)

tbh mate if u can afford the extra get the term reduced to 3years or even consider a PCP

Mines for sale in the 'sale section' - R27 for under £10k - bargain!!

I bought my 197 just before Christmas. Its an '09 plate and when I got it had only 5k miles on the clock.

I saved nearly £3k for a middle age woman to break the car in on her sunday trips to sainsbury's. I've had the car for nearly 6 months now and judging on the going rate of the 197 I haven't lost a penny to depreciation. Still worth as much as when I picked it up.

Im not trying to persuade one way or another. Mearly stating that there are some good deals to be had out there without being bent over on depreciation and the like.

*(and I prefer the 197 :-p)* <- opinion dont hate lol

Exactly the same car? :001_unsure::001_rolleyes:

The reason why the people that say its better and different have traded in 197's is that those people have driven the 197 for quite some time so feel the differences immediately when test driving the 200. You say you drove a 197 then 200 then went for the 197, thats fine as you wont have had the day to day experience of driving the 197 so they will have felt like two great cars , which they are.

If anyone who has a 197 can hand on heart say they have driven a 200 and not noticed the much improved low down torque or even further refined cup chassis then....well......I suppose that's their opinion and they are entitled to it.
The 197 is a superb car!!! The 200 is a slight tweak in the areas which were needed, to say they are exactly the same (apart from the uglyness) then I just cant agree.

As for the price on this thread , seems a tad high. Should be around 15/16k I would imagine.

18k is alot for a 200 i got mine for 14500 with 1300 miles on it and its

black full fat 200
cup chasis
black speedline wheels
cornering lights

and its a 59 plate

When I bought my 197 it was on the strength of the opinions/stories I read on forums like this. I listened to them and they were right. By this logic, I expect everything those with a 200 say is probably spot on so I would trade mine in for a 200 in a new york minute - however, I couldn't justify the average £6-8K spend over a used 197 for the tweaks that we hear about. £4K would do it though.

Having seen both a 200 in the metal and a 197; I actually much prefer the front end of the 200. It is much more aggressive. Clearly, if I had a 197 I might not see the need to change my car but I am driving on old banger hence may as well get a nice new one.

It seems your mind is already set on a 200, which is fair enough, great car! However I strongly advise not going in at that price.

Shop around and ALWAYS challenge on price! Even if buying new don't be mugged. If you cant get a dealer down on price from new get some extras thrown in, extended warranty is a great one to have!
