In traffic car heats and needs fan to cool down?

hi as in title when car is sitting idling for around 5 mins temp goes just over half way then fan kicks in, its never overheated or anything, just never had a car where the fan needs to ki:tongue_smilie:ck in after such short period of time?
thanks guys

i had this, and it was tempture sender that had stopped working, telling me that the car was over heating and turning the fan on, when infact it werent.

Its normal for the radiator fan to kick in when sat in traffic. You don't get the airflow over the radiator that you get when driving along, all my cars have done this and I'd be worried if the fan didn't kick in

well sounds normal to me and dont forget there isnt a lot of coolant in these engines like older cars so a smaller amount is circulated more and hence the rapid rise in temperature

also if you have the air-con on the fan also runs to cool the condenser
