How to protect for winter??

Hi guys. I'm looking to clean and prep my car for winter and seal the paint etc. I don't have a machine polish or anything fancy I do have a jet wash but not the stuff to do snow foam for pre rinse. I basically just want some advice what's good and not to expensive what I can buy/use to this??

Basically, prep is key this time of year as you want your wax or sealant to bond properly, so that it lasts as long as possible.

Ideally, something like clay - cleanse - protect

I have recommended a few people lately go for Auto Finesse Tripple to cleanse then top that with Collinite 845, ideally with 2-3 layers over a couple of washes. This will give you an easy 4-5 months durability, possibly 6+ and can be used to protect you wheels too.

It's also very, very cost effective and very easy to use

Will post in this tomorrow with my results of tripple and colinite 845, as russ recommended to me!

Thanks for the advice what sort of clay would you recommend? I think im going to buy a snow foam lance so i can use it as a pre wash. I do want to buy more stuff which i can experiment with but i should start off easy first i think lol.

Right protected mine for winter today, will get some pictures of car in morning as i've only just finished!!

Washed with megs gold class (2 bucket method)
De-tar using tardis
Clayed using megs clay system
Washed again
polished with tripple
waxed with collinite 845

My god can't believe the results just doing it by hand defiantly recommend tripple is a polish, then using collinite 845 as your top coat, both are REALLY easy to use, thanks again to russ!!

I will be inspecting it tomorrow Luke if you at work lol

Glad you were happy Luke, thanks for the feedback. It's a great combo for the money!

Was Tardis okay in that bottle?

Nice one, be sure to get some pics up!

If you are free one night, I'll come try my new cam if you like, meet at Tesco in Dudley

In the end i decided not to bother protecting my car this winter as i have got diamondbrite on it from when i brought it a few months ago so it should be ok?? I did end up buying a new foam lance with ph neutral valet pro, a new bucket with grit guard a meguiars wash mitt and auto finnese crystal clear glass cleaner and i have some meguiars gold class still left over from when i brought it last year. I will put a few pics up of a wash when it all arrives
