How do you remove the boot lid?

As the title says, i want to take the boot lid off completely.
The bolts on the hinge look fairly simple... but how does one remove the wiring looms? is there a conveniently placed connector just inside the rubber seals?

lol you would be lucky. im guessing the loom goes straight back to lighting/locking circuit. i bet itd be a case of chopping the wires or pulling the roof lining out.

I would imagine that if you take the plastic cover off the inside of the boot lid (the big un with the grab handle) you can unplug the leads and pull them through so you can just unbolt and remove the boot lid and leave the leads dangling.

Did you forget about the brake light?

The brake light will just unplug and come out of the tailgate leaving just the lead.

how? its just a hole in the boot with rubber armour

There is not a connector. It would be a case of removing the tailgate trim which is easy enough and then unplugging the connectors including the one on the brake light. The brake light is clipped in so just needs the clips pushing in and then pop the light out to get to connector.

Then feed the wiring back through corner of tailgate and undo the bolts / nuts holding it on. It's easier than it looks when you starting taking it apart
