Hi from Oz

Lovely that!

Roof looks good - you consider doing the spoiler also?

Cheers.
Yep wrapped the spoiler black first to try both, but it looks much better with just the roof done (same as my Megane).
I need to do something with the suspension next. Im guessing from your pic you've fitted coilovers ?

Thanks for the kind words guys.
This is still easily the best Renault forum online imo. Good info, good cars & good people.

New semis for the 275R for the new season.
Opted for the newer R888R over last seasons R888 which although good for longer supersprints proved a little too hard a compound for shorter lap dash or hillclimb events.
Only downside was having to go from 245/35/19 back to 235/35/19, hopefully the softer compound & quicker warmup time will compensate for the smaller contact patch.
Also sprayed the red Speedlines black.

do you have to compete with your stock wheels? surprised you're not going for some lighter wheels. maybe there's not that much to be gained?

Can’t change size in showroom, can in most other disciplines I do but the 19” speedlines aren’t a heavy rim, I’m doubtful you’d see much of a lap time improvement anyway (much more benefit in going to a wider footprint), the main benefit I see of 18” is the cheaper & bigger selection of semis compared to 19’s.
Incidentally from initial impressions the new R888R im running this year are definitely a big improvement over the older R888 I ran last season. IMO still not as good as the Advan A050 but probably the next best I’ve used & ive tried most semis on the market over the years.

@steve11 The new R888R is an asymmetric tyre, so my worry is that we cannot change from left to right side, i.e.: when the outer side of the tyre has gone, I am swapping the to the other side, so I have a fresh shoulder again on the outer side. And in this case I can use longer the tyre. Later I do the BAU front-back swap.

Have you tried Dunlop Direzza 03G? I am using it since 2-3 sessions and its on another league compared to R888s as these Direzzas does not overheat in a 20-25 min session, so no need of cool down lap.

Can you share your experience on A050, pls?

thanks
Tamas

Hi,
As long as I can rotate front to back I’m happy, I race on plenty of varied tracks so my wear is fairly even.
The big difference I found between 888 & 888R is the much quicker heat up time & improved grip.
It depends what discipline your doing & how long your pushing on track for. I currently do a lot of lap dash/hill climb/khanacross type events against the clock where you want the tyres to switch on immediately & where hundredths of a second count, durability over 30 minutes is not such an issue to me.
It also depends on the car your racing, I found my 200 (3 not 4) was not nearly as dependent on the type of semi I was using compared my 275 (no doubt due to making much more hp & torque).
Not used the Dunlop’s from memory so can’t comment on them. The Advan are still the best semi on the market imo, from years of using the 032 then the 048 then the 050 on various cars they have always been the semi to have in my experience, the time attack cars do amazing lap times on the 050’ comparable to full slicks, the leading tarmac rally cars all use them too which shows the durability, just a shame they are not available in my current size requirements hence why I’m currently using the Toyo’s.
