Help pls: Play in Wheel on the ground

Having a trouble with play in the passenger side front wheel on an R27. Getting a lot of clunking over bumps and potholes etc, couldn't feel any movement using a bar when the car is jacked and with the wheel off, but when the wheel is on and the car on the ground there is movement if i push quite firmly on the top of the wheel. Doesn't seem to happen once the car is jacked, oddly. If i reach in and wiggle the strut there seems to be the same movement too. Any ideas what this could be? Fact it doesn't happen when jacked up and theres no side to side movement seems to rule out a wheel bearing no??

Sounds like top mounts maybe? Wheel bearing is unlikely to cause knocking more commonly it's ball joints etc...
