HELP - 197 F1 spring question

Hoookay, quick update, H&R's have arrived at garage so has the genuine F1 spring that was apparantley on back order.

I've said go with the H&R's and was then quoted 340.00 to change them!!! Now I'm no techy but this seemed ridiculous money, quizzed why so much and was told 2 & a bit hours labour PER SIDE on the fronts, rears a lot easier.

Made a few enquires at some other Renault specialists (inc K-Tec, RS Tuning etc) and was quoted nearer 150 +VAT for all 4. Mentioned this to garage and they more or less said if they can do it for that then take it to them!!

Thing is, really haven't got the time so in the end we agreed an 220.00 all in and yes, I know this is still v expensive but wife just needs the car back ASAP. I was even told the F1 suspension is a totally different set-up to the normal 197's or CUP's, hence why others have quoted so cheap. From what I've read on here and mentioned to the other specialists though, thats a load of b0ll0cks!!

Any thoughts??

If you've agreed the price with them then so be it. They sound like total mugs though mate. R27 IS cup suspension, so they're either:

A. Morons who'd rather make stuff up then learn their trade
B. Trying to mug you off

Either way I'd NEVER use them again. I'd also check they've fitted the right springs when you pick it up!

Yep, I know, I agreed 220.00 and will pay it, but that was haggled right down. I will def get them checked out after as well as doesn't really fill me with confidence either.

I won't name & shame and could sort of understand it if it was a general garage dealing in all sorts, but these are a local Renault Specialist so expected a bit better TBH, certainly not the "F1 is totally different suspension set-up to the normal 197" flannel..

Rears take about half an hour in TOTAL, both sides, only a couple of bolts.

Fronts take a little longer, but nowhere near four hours total. That's a p!sstake. All 197s and 200s have the same hub setup.

Name and shame mate, if it stops the next person going along and having the p!ss taken out of them then it's all good. Amateurs.

You've paid well over the odds there mate, but if you're happy then fair enough and at least it's a lot cheaper than what they wanted. :worried:

I know I'm going to be paying well over and I'm not happy TBH, wish I'd have done a bit more digging before it went in and was stripped down.

Typical case of "****", failed MOT, need to get it sorted ASAP. Live & learn and don't leave it so late next time I suppose. :001_unsure:

It's not your fault mate, just sounds like the arseholes have taken advantage of you. Don't send anything else to them, even if it means having to travel to have stuff done. I once had a car in a garage for nearly two weeks to have the clutch changed, idiot couldn't for the life of him get the right parts... But with two phonecalls and by the time I had a brew, the right bits were on the way to my house from the factors. He did not look impressed when I turned up in a truck to take the car home.

They don't sound like renault specialists to me with the 'F1's a different suspension set up'
