197 gearbox help/bits wanted...

received_744090356086861.jpeg Hi guys, I've got/had/worked on loads of mk2's for years...I picked up a 197 a few weeks ago for a decent price needing a clutch...has turned out its chopped the box up a bit too.
Anyway, I got a mega low milage replacement box, but it has a hole in the casing! I thought i'd just change over the casings but the newer box has a bigger bearing on the end, meaning the old casing wont fit.
Is this a newer/older box? And does anyone have a casing for this box....or another gearbox for a reasonable price?

Another thing that may help me - is there any diagrams available to work from to maybe just change 3/4 syncro into my old box from this?

Any help much appreciated!

Might be a stupid question. But from that picture, you do realise the outer race of the bearing has split off opposite shafts?
You'll never marry the casings up in that case

Looks the same to me. The boxes are back to back, the output is on the back of the back one and the front of the front one.

Which bearing is bigger? The cup and cone? Or the sealed one? Are the shafts the same size? Can you replace the bearing on the new box with the same size as the old case?

James

Yeah as above, boxes are back to front... lol.
The sealed (green) bearing is larger than the one behind it...but i had planned to use the casing from the one behind it.
I'd have a go at swapping bits over but a diagram to go by would be ideal as both boxes look to come apart different.

Tell you what are both boxes Clio RS boxes there should be 003, 024, 031 etched into the end casing I saw a lot of boxes on the net sold as 197/200 boxes you might have been sold a 2.0 litre non RS Clio box show us the labels.

Bit of a weird one. Just had a look through my photos of my 024 box.
It has the large green faced bearing on the end. What's the code of your original?

Only got stickers on the end of the casings, not sure what they relate to.
I got another box from a crashed car, which looks to be the same as the origional out the car.

In other news, I've passed all 3 boxes to a local guy thats going to try build 1 from the 3...probably a better option!

Hope everyone had a good christmas

The casings seem to be a 003 gearbox pre 2008 all low ratios and the 024 gearbox with the lower 1st to 4th ratios as the 003 box but higher 5th and 6th so less revs for the same speed but not much difference you will still feel like me there should be a 7th gear. The TL4 387944 seems like a RS box but the sticker 610186 might not be a RS gearbox or a different version of the same box so the casing fitting problems.
