Headunit question - not the same old question

Hi guys, I'm looking at upgrading my HU but my car has bluetooth, sat nav and French "aux" jack (audio L+R).

When I buy the new HU will all of these still work or will I need a compatible HU or will anything work fine?

Thanks in advance

Josh

Hi mate, Ive still got the standard HU in as time and money have been short!

Hi Josh,

I own a 12 plate 200 with sat nav (should have Bluetooth as the Parrot kit is listed on the original invoice that was in the log book, but some Pikey has taken it) and I've just upgraded my head unit to this https://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/MEX-N6001BD although I bought it from Halfords...

If you have sat nav you're going to need this for whatever head unit you put in: http://www.paser.it/en/p/89/NaviBack_Renault_-_Fakra/ not cheap at £200.

I learnt from experience on this one as I bought the Connects2 lead from Halfords to keep the connection to the steering wheel remote controls. However, what happens when it's all connected is that the sat nav screen will only show the time and the remote will no longer bring up the navigation menu. I think it's because the sat nav wants to be able to mute the audio connection whenever it sees fit to relay directions to you, it can't do this with the Connects2 lead and so appears to not want to turn on by default.

I changed the head unit as I really wanted DAB, without an independent unit on the dash (the radio stations in Devon are crap) as well as Bluetooth and the only way I can see to do this is as follows:

Option 1: buy a Parrot kit £150 for Bluetooth and after market tucked away DAB install such as this £250: http://www.justconnectme.co.uk/justdrive-digital-radio-dab-car-adaptor/

Option 2: buy a head unit for £150 for Bluetooth and DAB and the Paser NaviBack for £200, and actually save myself £50.

As you've already got Bluetooth, £200 for just the lead may seem a bit steep.

Hope that helps,
Joe

Hi Joe

That's really helpful thanks!
But annoying that it's £350 just for a new HU but it kinda sums up Renault!
Have you got your setup sorted now?

No worries, not yet - I'm waiting on the lead to arrive, being Italian though, they're not taking orders until 1st September as the company appears to have shut down for the Summer!

Luckily have my old sat nav to stick to the windscreen for the time being...
