Gearbox failure symptoms.....

After reading some of the comments regarding gearbox failure I just wondered what the signs are so I can look out for it in future.

By 'crunch' do people mean an audible crunch like when you dont quite get it into gear?
Also my 3rd gear, and others seem a little 'clunky' when selecting gear, it never crunches or fails to engage gear but doesnt seem quite as smooth as i would expect.

So any advice etc?

Dont seem to be doing too well with this Clio so far, but I have a Renault extended warrenty so not too bothered!

Just had mine done it was the synchro was like putting car in to 2nd gear with out using clutch done with warranty thankfully they sent box away and had it reconditioned now perfect smooth in every gear
