197: fuel costs?

Hi everyone, so am i right in thinking a 197 averages 28mpg or is this wrong and what is the average mpg?

Also how much does it cost you per month on fuel?

Fuel cost local to me is 130.9 and i probably do about 150 mile a week, how much is this going to cost me a month in a 197?

All depends how you drive, and on what sort of roads. In normal commuting (slow traffic, some motorway but no real cruising) mine would probably return 29/30 mpg but my average is better than that. Not that it is any great reference but in the same environment an old 1.6 Focus does about 36 mpg while our 2.0 auto CR-V does 24/25.

I generally take it pretty steady in the Clio though; if I wanted to I am sure I could get it down to the low 20's.

thanks for the comment mate genuine points made about the way you drive and the roads etc. The mpg is the only thing bothering me but tbh work is only 12 miles a day thats 6 miles there, 6 miles home. rest is taking the mrs everywhere. Tbh if i can get high 20's id be happy. How many miles you get to a full tank in the clio?

only ever seen 30s a couple of times.....its mainly mid to high 20s when normal and low 20s when giving it some and to be honest most times i use mine its getting it :001_rolleyes:

Our lifetime average in the 200 is 31mpg. Thats with all sorts of driving from motorway, city driving, B roads and trackdays (If caining it properly you can get single digit MPG readings lol. I had 9mpg around Knockhill lol).

I dont think its that bad on fuel tbh. Much the same as I got in my old Corsa VXR.

On motorway runs using cruise control @ 65mph I get around 37mpg, round town it's more like 28mpg

I really dont think my Clio feels like it uses much more fuel than my Old 1.6 Fiesta Zetec S.....(however I fell out of love with that car and did caine it everywhere, I'm more gentle with the Clio most of the time)

And the fuel economy is about the same as my Girlfriends Suzuki Swift Sport (Also a 1.6)


Does anyone know if the K-Tec Stage 1 remap genuinely gets better economy as well as performance, or is that just sales patter?

How many miles you get to a full tank in the clio?

I get mid 20's mpg (22 to 28mpg) on 'my' normal driving. (95% motorway)

around 280 miles a tank (thats from full till the red light comes on)

However i have had 350 miles out of a tank (twice) when i went to silverstone.
That was keeping to 70 and not booting it at all.

On a 65 miles round trip on the commute, 80% (Irish) A roads the rest Motorway I'm averaging mid to high 30's last week 39MPG ave. Still gets a good squirt for overtaking and high revs hitting motorway not quite red line. With work driving everything from E class to insignia's the Clio out performs on MPG by streets ave for 1.8 insignia is about 28 and they need tramped to even get going
