Fitting ITG maxogen - best position for it?

Ive had my ITG maxogen on for a while now, but never really looked into the best position for it.

I've seen afew different positions people have installed them.
Mine personally is located straight down behind the battery and gearbox.

I've seen afew people install smaller batteries and position them over the battery pointing towards the front....

What position is best for the maxogen??
Is it worth me buying a smaller battery and locating the trumpet of the air box towards the front of the car with a cold air feed?

Opinions??

Here's the only pic of how mine is currently fitted.

I originally had it positioned down behind the battery, few vibration issues and not always the best for cooling. After a last minute emergency bought a kit off a lad on here see below.

Fits a lot better and engine temp stays lower on enthusiastic runs. Cool air feed does reduce induction noise though which is tad disappointing

I'd prefer that position but I don't think I'd be able to get hold of one of them hoses. I'm not too bothered about lack of induction noise, just more concerned about the lack of cold air getting to mine haha.

Might look into making a hose like that somehow, saves buying a smaller battery

You can get those flexible hoses on eBay pretty cheap, come in various different diameters too.

Link.
Thanks for the link mate.

It's more the silicone hose that connects the maxogen to the inlet really. (Same hose as pic above)
Looks a wierd shape and probably won't be able to buy separate

Ah sorry thought you meant the other bit ... yeah I see you're problem as the silicone hosing isn't flexible is it so it's kinda stuck where it is.

This is on my list of purchases - Is it worth it?

Depends what you're after...

If anything you'll be losing power by fitting one of these, but you will get a great induction noise, which would you rather have?

Bearing in mind though the power loss is arguably negligible anyway.

I've heard conflicting arguments on the ITG Maxogen - Read a thread that produced it with small gains as oppose to any losses.

The butterfly plenum, next to the battery.. What is the need for it? And would you advise keeping it? I got rid of mine a while back, but if I keep the box, may have to replace it.

It's hard to say really, I guess it depends on whether or not you heatshield properly.
There's nothing conclusive to prove either theory of loss/gain of power, but I think the OEM setup is very good at its job, so I can't imagine anything else resulting in power gains. Again all of this is probably negligible and unnoticeable to how the car drives.

Do you mean the intake to the right of the battery? The valve on that is closed until about 4K RPM, IIRC this stops hot air being sucked in when the car isn't travelling fast, but then opens up when the car is travelling fast to get colder air into the engine.

Oh - should probably replace that..

I've got a ktec induction kit and absolutely love the noise. Mine made 199.1bhp on the rollers so defo no power lost. Can see the maxogen being similar. Will perform better in cold weather no doubt though

Where have people mounted the end of the flexible hose on their maxogens? It seems to just hang behind the light cluster with no means to attach it?
