first day out some Questions to ask

hello all

after having my first full day of owning my 197 i seem to find that i can't change into 2nd very quickly? is the case for most ?

apart from that its been awesome except for the weather, shame it was raining, what do people normally get mpg ? i got around 27.4, and i wasn't hooning it either......much, is that normal i have driven about 134 miles today mostly town and motorway.

just would like some guidance

also to V power or not to Vpower ???

one more thing these machines do put a massive smile on your face don't they !!!

1. I sometimes have trouble getting into second when she isn't warmed up properly.
2. I get about 23-25 MPG urban and 27-32 on motorway journeys.
3. To VPower.
4. Massive.

There are a few good threads floating around regarding better fuel and MPG. However, the forums search function is playing up ATM. Have a look around - there's a few interesting reads.

right i have had it nearly 2 weeks gears from 1st /2nd still feel difficult to get in even after a long time warming up, i feel that i can't throw it into gear like i could do in my older clio or any other car that i have driven, if i give it some beans and change about 6800- 7000 rpm i have to wait for it to drop into gear, its almost as if the gearbox can't keep up.... if that makes sense..

has anyone else had problems with 1/ 2 gear with an 08 clio cup ???

Sounds like your gearbox is on its way out
As for vpower once a month in mine and no difference

fantastic........ as i brought it from the dealership a couple of weeks ago will they repair a gearbox/ replace under a warrenty, what is it that acctually goes on them is it a syncro or is a fault with the selector itself ? can anyone shed some detailed light......

sorry to say this but you shouldn't have trouble from 1st to 2nd that's not right doubt if it's the linkages more like the syncromesh gear between the two is on it's way out. if it was the linkages there would be trouble between 3rd and 4th and likewise 5th and 6th
fuel consumption is about right it's better on motorway runs

Get it straight back and don't let them bull crap you ask on here for people who have gearbox probs and you will have plenty of back up

so what do i say ? i think there is a problem from first to second ?? and see what they come back with ? or do i say i think the gearbox is on its way out and feels like the syncros have gone from 1/2 ...... kinda annoyed as you would expect renault to have sorted out these gearboxes going through the forum its been happening for a while......

if its when cold they can be a bit of a pain to get gears...

once warm/hot the gears should be fine if a bit "notchy" to slot home but should be able to do a fast change without issues...

a change of gearbox oil can sometimes help!
