Feista ST announced

also the last fiesta st was embarasingly aweful.
Your right with the list but way too old, they havent done anything decent since "the good old days", they dont havce a clue these days at all.
Looking at this new Fiesta, nothings changed.

plus the st was built for handling and at the time the clio m3 came out it was a good 4-5 years old, so you cant really compare like for like.

I'm not sure why some members think because they have one marque, they have to disrespect another. Without the xr's and rs, we wouldn't have half the great hot hatches we have now. Ford had the balls to do it back then and did it better than most.

I strongly disagree with that.

I swapped my 197 for one for a month, and if truth be known, was gonna get rid of the 197 for one.

I ended up with a 182, but I miss the ST so much. It was great.

Not sure about the new one, but its better looking than the new Clio anyway lol!!

Why do you think the last Fiesta ST was awful? I had one for 3 years and couldn't disagree more. I only sold it to get the Clio because I wanted more power

where i have moved too there are 3 in the street....its like running a ford fiesta st gauntlet :001_huh:

Very true. Ford have a big history, right back to RS Mexico and the Capri V6 before that...

When you look at past Vauxhall offerings too, not this current VXR stuff, but the original hot stuff. Nova SRi, Astra GTE, Cavalier SRi, Carlton 3000 GSi... They've not exactly got a bad history either, even if the current range has somewhat of a stigma attached to it.

Alfa Romeo are another one, they've had some immense cars down the years and can pretty much take credit for the high-perfomance four banger. The FIAT group Lampredi Twin-Cam is an absolute dream of an engine and was in production for the best part of 50 years in various guises...

Renault are relative newcomers to the ''hot'' scene by comparison.

I just don't like Fords. Not keen on the front of this, although the headlights look smart.

The last Fiesta ST was a cracking car just a touch underpowered.

First time ive seen a decent pic of the back of it and Id need to paint the bottom of that diffuser black.

Love fast fords. Great cars. This looks good. But that front grill. Not sure. I think the last fiesta was stunning. Drove a mountune s1600 fiesta and it didn't even compare to the 197. But if they made that old fiesta as quick as this new one (let alone what mountune will do) I'd be handing in my keys to the 197!

It's not pretty looking with that big wide mouth is it?

It'll sell though.

I have to admit that I like it. I wouldn't buy it, but I do like it in comparison to the old one or even the new clio.

Ford has a massive history. Fact. Only the cosworth range speaks volumes. However things change and these days Ford doesn't have anything to show (in the hot hatch region) apart from the new focus RS (the old one as we all know even though a stunner it underteers like there is no tomorrow) and even that car is not for everybody (some would say it is too big, too heavy, too loud, too chavy etc).

The Focus ST...I don't know, I just see it as a focus with a big engine...

Fiesta ST FOR ME is very boring, slow, very common and doesn't have the fun factor so it was always a no. However I'd love to have seen that RS version that never came out...

Having said that, the scenery change all the time (new clio??lol) so who knows? Maybe the new ST is a cracker after all:smile:

...read a short article about the new RS Clio in Autocar last night....the new Clio is quite good going by the photo's even though it has four doors...I think Renault might just have the edge. RS gear box sounds interesting but there seems to be some sort of exhaust note changing function which seems a bit of a gimick....as they are being released at the same time I will check both out before thinking about which one to go for

Snap!!

<3 you really Arran
Haha just noticed this! I must say the ford looks nice over the new clio but from the article in autocar about the 200 turbo the clio will be a good bit quicker, time will tell. The rs sits far too high for me almost like the fabia vrs, just looks like its missing any stance

As long as that tacky blue oval isn't on it I don't care! Lol! The MPS hasn't got as much Focus in it as I thought tbh. They were in the process of cutting their ties and the mk 2 3 isn't as much as the mk 1 I don't think. The engine has a few parts that are Ford, but it was designed by Mazda. They put the good bits of Ford in, like the heated seats and heated front screen.

My missus had a SportKa and although it was quite good to drive, it rusted and we had a few problems with it. But that's not the only reason, I just don't like them. Even though I like driving the Transits, I still don't think I'd buy one.

i must admit i like the thought of the new ST.... dont forget Peeps it may be under powered out of the box compared to the RS, but you can buy so many Mountune goodies. I mean really, how long would you keep it standard? even if it was an exhaust and filter.

I suppose it all depends on the price of both tbh, if the Clio is £2K more, then you can spend the £2K on bits and probably end up with a faster car that will actually stop rather than a car using 2 pot sliders. I think subaru made the same mistake putting legacy 2 pot sliders on the BRZ and WRX rather than 4 pots.

Anyway i am slightly biased.....
