Fast road cam shafts for 197?

Hi

As above really, is there any fast road cam shaft kits available for the Clio 197 yet and if so who is the manufacturer and what gains did anyone achieve in fitting the lumpy cam shafts with a live map?

Thanks

You can buy some catcams 402's but they will run on standard springs ok however will have the effect of pushihng the power even higher up the rev range . so probally not a great idea but depends on what you want from the car , ie mostly track etc

402's on standard engine run fine u would have to get it mapped to suit. Effectively the car has to rev higher to get the power but once it hits 5 k it goes mental and really will throw u into ure seat.

A set of cams, high flow zorst and a remap will see average gains of 15 hp

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

I have been involved with building and tuning cars for a few years now. My best car I built was a 137.1 hp @ wheels saxo vts track car.

I have built a few toys and spent far too many hours of my life working on cars at Ricky p rpm French car specialists.

I am however a noob when it comes to clio 197. I am looking to get one for a guy in the near future, so I'm reading up on tuning potential the 197s have.

What is the lumpiest cam shafts you can run on the standard inlet then?

Has anyone got a gas flowed head or anything like that?

Mines got a modified head Polished and ported inlets. When u say lumpy what u meen? There's loads u can do to a 197 if u spend the cash.

Matched inlets are supposed to be beneficial, the inlet manifold is in two pieces, upper and lower, and the ports between the two can be a restriction

I mean lumpy as in the limit for standard internals and the inlet, the cams before the throttle body spec cams?

To be honest mate I would go for catcams or kentcams they are best IMO to run 403's the clearance isnt high enough on the head so it's a bit more involved. Throttle bodies can be run on standard IC only when u move to forced induction u need to worry about forging.

No I came across wrong there, when I said standard internals I was referring to the valve clearance from the piston, as in pocketed pistons for clearance issues.

So with the 403s you don't have to change to solid lifters or anything like that?
