It's a good point Peter. And I think that's something that's missing from the sport. I know it's always easy to look back fondly but when I first started watching F1 in the early 80's and through most of the 90's you could SEE that these were special people.

That's why I really enjoyed the lack of grip in Baku. It showed their incredible level of car control much better than what we've seen for a long time.

fully agree, M. everybody with half an ounce of grey cells knows, aero kills the sport. bring back mechanical grip over aerodynamic grip. we just need someone at the FIA to push it through. maybe ross brawn can ... (doubt it, though)

did you see the assen TT? bloody marvellous race. why is almost every motoGP race so exciting? because we can see how difficult these things are to handle and because it's so unpredictable. even 'the aliens' can c*** up.

So so true. Shockingly bad leadership for far too long sadly.

As for MotoGP, I was a HUGE fan for many years, sadly I stopped watching after they allowed Marquez to do what he did to Rossi in order for Lorenzo to win the championship. As long as he's still in it, I won't be watching

But to be perfectly honest, I was really affected by Marco's death. I still watched but the gloss had gone. Maybe I just need some time. I know it's fantastic sport though! Same with most bike racing.

If it was anyone else in the field it would have been a far more severe penalty. If it was in football it would have been a straight red card. Problem is that Todt and his cronies at the FIA can't really be arsed doing anything. We're lucky if he even shows up for a few races per year.

However, their road safety campaign is their baby and this flies right in the face of that, I really hope they do something.

It's hard being a fan of Lewis to see the wood for the trees here (sometimes it's hard being a fan of Lewis full stop as he can behave like a dick granted) but it's good to see that Pettel's actions have been met with widespread condemnation, apparently including sections of the Italian and German media, so they can't be accused of bias in this case.

He's a little scumbag basically and thinks he can do what he wants. And we have enough examples to know it's true.

Trying to get Kvyat sacked because he dared to race him
Telling Charlie to "go f**k himself"
etc.

He needs pulling in line like the petulant child that he is.

Sadly, it would not surprise me at all if the FIA do absolutely cock all and are only looking into this to try to stem the massive backlash they're being subjected to everywhere you look.

The trouble is, the more he gets away with things, the more he'll adopt this sense of entitlement - give him an inch and he'll clearly take a mile. It's the same with anyone that is allowed to do wrong things without any comeback - in or out of sport.

The FIA have to be careful though, because it could send up setting a precedent if they don't give out an appropriate punishment. What exactly does a driver have to do to be severely punished? I mean, they give drivers 5,000 place grid penalties for changing an engine part, but only a drive through penalty for getting all Destruction Derby on someone!! Rule makers, huh...funny old folk.

Public flogging aside I think the removal of his and Ferrari's points from the weekend would be a good starting point. It's wrong that he still had a high-scoring final position despite all that happened. The 10 secs denied him very little in the grand scheme of things - if he wins the championship, then those points he won could make all the difference...

Utterly stunned. His thoroughly fake / fabricated "apology" written by his PR guys counts for absolutely zero.

How Todt can even dream of putting himself forward as the UN ambassador for road safety is beyond me. Although given the utterly disgusting cover up over the death of Bianchi, nothing surprises me any more. Some people are simply above the law. It seems that very much applies to Pettel too.

It would please me no end if Lewis managed to wind little Sebby up into another outburst of his scumbag behaviour. But I'm sure nothing would be done about it then either.
