I havent seen any head on shots of the new FI car yet, but the new livery looks really good.

Nice post Gaz. It's weird and kind of sad to see the Merc reveal without Ross in the picture. That caterham looks nuts, it's so funny to see all the different solutions to the new nose design.

Anyone else seeing this but the two lotus tusks are different lengths. Solid start from ferarri hoping for a 3rd Alonso title this year man deserves it

the caterham has to win ugliest face this year, it's horrific! lets just hope its an interesting season with some decent racing at the front, not much to draw from the testing day today (although there never really is), cars sound quite nice though.

Watched some of Ted's Notebook on Sky Sports F1 last night and I think they sound really good. Its always different in person though !

Though they are missing that last bit of revs/scream the NA engines had so it seems like they're short shifting, hopefully they are.

Day 1 Times

4. Sergio Perez Mexico Force India-Mercedes 1min 33.161secs
5. Jean-Eric Vergne France Toro Rosso-Renault 1min 36.530secs
6. Esteban Gutierrez Mexico Sauber-Ferrari 1min 42.257secs
7. Sebastian Vettel Germany Red Bull-Renault No time
8. Marcus Ericsson Sweden Caterham-Renault No time

I keep thinking it sounds like short shifting too but the rev limit this year is 15k rather than 18k so that is probably why.

I don't think they are redlining it though. 3 second improvement from day1 they definitely aren't pushing the car just yet.

Yeah, there's no way they're pushing the cars just yet. Like Colwill said a 3sec improvement in a day just shows they're slowly running the engines/chassis in. With such a huge design change in front/rear wing and nose section the amount of aero data they need to collect is probably one of the number 1 aspects, then you've got cooling and air flow to look at for the engine, baring in mind that at least the engines will have had the advantage of being bench tested LOTS over the last couple of months.
