Exhaust centre box clean break

Only 6 weeks into owning my clio and this is the second major thing to happen to it. The exhaust centre box has been cleanly snapped off on one side of the box and the other the welding is starting to come undone so I have a few questions.

1. Will that be covered under the warranty or would that be claimed as wear and tear?
2. Would it require a full exhaust re fit?

Thanks

Phil

I think you can just buy the back box. But I would check your engine mounts, just to see if that's been helping to shake your exhaust to pieces. The exhaust on these cars shouldn't move when changing gears etc.
I don't know about your warranty, but it's probably worth calling them anyway.

How old is your car? I may be wrong, but (depending on age) I can't see how a snapped exhaust could be classed as wear and tear... Surely they should have a decent lifespan on them. I would definitely recommend seeing about sorting it under warranty first before anything else.

Thanks for the replies guy's

The car is nearly 4 years old, I took it to a local kiwi fit to get it checked out, he said it would be classed as wear and tear but I am going to give Renault Warranty a call in the morning. If I have no luck the mechanic told me that there is a specialist exhaust garage in Leeds and to give him a ring to see what he could do but if it requires a full exhaust re fit and it's not covered by warranty I was just going to upgrade the exhaust to a scorpion or something.

Once I get the exhaust fixed I am going to get it booked in at a renault sport specialist and get them to give it a decent service as I really don't want to have to keep spending money on repairs.

I wouldn't describe that as a major problem tbh, a decent welder should be able to sort that.

Where you based? I have a standard exhaust system you can have for free if you want it.

I am based in warrington at the moment but I will be back in leeds in a couple of weeks. I am off on holiday today so I will give you a pm about it when I get back, thanks for your help Chris

Good luck with Renault , definitely worth a phone call like you say. Do you have a picture ? Providing there is enough metal on the backbox side a welder should be able to sort it.

No I don't have a picture but after ringing Renault and having no luck with them instead of fitting another standard exhaust going down the line of a Milltek Catback and possibly putting in the hiflow sport cat.
