Engine steam

Is it normal for the 197 to steam from the right side (as your looking at the car) vent at the front, in the rain?

Had a quick look under the bonnet and assumed it was just the cold rain getting heated by the engine.

Coolants fine, temp gauge is fine just wondered if this is quite common.

mine sometimes does it after i have washed it and its sat in the garage running - does it as the thermostat opens and lets hot coolant in to the radiator and this then causes water from washing it to steam away

Mine steamed a lot after I washed the engine bay. Nothing to worry about

Sorry to resurrect this thread but this has just happened to me in the rain and I s**t myself! Will look to see if it does it when the rain stops...

I'm glad you found this thread. Was pondering what it could be earlier, I assumed I had just splashed up into the engine bay
