Engine oil help

I've been looking into oil and honestly have no idea whats going on with the clio. Usually i just buy normal castrol etc for my cars but this is my first 'performance' car.

I know you need the right oil for your car obviously, searching online it seems i need 0W-40 or 5W-40 for the clio.

My question is: is there any recommended oil for my scenario. Its my daily driver and my only car, i don't do any track days or anything and have also seen lots of different types of oil on the forums but am unsure if there is a difference for owners that race theirs etc, going to be driving a few hundred miles at the weekend about 200-300 motorway mostly and am from northern ireland (in case climate matters).

Can anyone help point me in the right direction of oil for my car, and are the really crap and good oils? obviously don't want to be putting any crap in the motor!

Drop Opie Oils an email. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/

They'll be able to recommend something suited to your needs. I used them a few weeks ago and their service was first class.

Buy the genuine elf oil if your worried change it more often even if you don't change the filter between services but for £8 for a genuine filter you might as well. I got 4L for cost £12.50 Elf evolution SXR900 5W-40 so I bought a box my last Clio 172 done 200,000 miles I had it new with 30miles on the clock and no problems it was only stopped when a 17 year old drove into the back of it and wrote it off else I would have put another timing belt on it and carried on driving it. Now getting the oil is a problem over here (NI) if you go to Hursts Renault Belfast they will give you Total oil and The Renault dealers in Portadown will give you Nissan oil I found genuine oil in Renault Crossgar and Omagh but I got mine wholesale.
