Engine Oil Consumption

I looked through threads and can't seem to find an answer.

What would you say the Engine Oil consumption should be on a 2007 197 with around 95k on clock.
Want to know if mine is the same as others or if i have a leak somewhere?

Had a service around 2 months ago and it's saying top up. Prob done around 1500-1750 miles since oil was changed (although is was basic oil, next time i'll buy my own and take it with)

Thanks

Apparently continuous motorway use can make it go down quicker? This true as i do around 20 miles a day on motorway to and from work.

I do a lot of motorway miles and if you get some decent oil it can last longer however I would say that between 3-6 months it gets topped up. I won’t necessary change the filter that gets done every service

That's good to hear. I didn't want to take it to a garage to find there isn't anything wrong and waste my money and their time. Like i said, in the service it was crap oil which i won't be making the mistake of using again. Next time i'll be buying everything myself and taking it with to get done, plus it works out around £40 cheaper to do that.

many potential variables for oil consumption and one of them being the type/quality of the oil...

in the handbook iirc it is 1ltr/650mls as excessive

was it on the max mark from the service? way to save a bit is to only fill to minimum that way the garage gets a 1ltr back at each service! but you have to top up sooner

It was full from service, which is why I wanted to check what people's thoughts were before taking it in. The oil was a cheap one, didn't go down so fast when using previous Petronas oil. I've topped back up with the Petronas oil, I'll keep an eye on how quick this goes and go from there. Thanks guys

2008 Clio, 88K miles - 65 mile round trip Mon-Fri, 90% motorway and I'm finding I'm probably using a little under 1L of oil per ~8000 miles. Tend to wait until the first first O disappears on the Min-Max display on startup then bosh some in

Now I'm thinking more towards a leak with those figures. Gonna have to go get it checked out.

I had my 197 full from service, since that. I've driven 2500km, maybe 50% motorway. And it asks for top up..
It's done 170000km in total
I recently changed from a k&n filter, back to the original filter box system. I think I noticed it uses more oil after that, but I would rather use the original filter box since someone told me the other type is possibly bad at filtering..

I'd say mine uses about 1ltr between services using shell 5w40 fully synth, which has been pretty consistent for the last 30k... Check your dip stick as it could be an iffy sensor.

Think it's a leak as there is oil on road after I move away. Taking it in on Monday to get sorted. Keep you posted.

I've had mine for 2000 miles now. It had a service about 200 miles before I bought it. I assume it was at max then.

When I checked the oil level last weekend, dipstick told me about 90% above min. That means my engine uses roughly 1 liter per 20.000 miles.

2008 197 with 89.000 miles and 5W-40 ELF oil.

On another good note, euro car parts had a 50% off offer last week so I got 4 litres +1 and a new oil filter for £26. Now that's happy days.
