Electrical problem 197

I’m having major electrical problems with my 2007 197, driving home from work to the gym all the warning lights came on, steering,braking,abs,esp airbag,etc car was still driving fine, switched the car off all the lights stayed on and car wouldn’t even turn over, dis connected the battery for 30 mins and tried again no ignition lights only the press brake to start but nothing doing, had to get recovered, left the car for 2 days and voila it started up runs but warning lights on , has anyone come across anything like this ? any and all advice welcome , thanks
 
If the battery is old replace it. Renaults have a habit of throwing up warning lights when the battery voltage does not consistently stay at what it should be.

First thing, check Battery/ and all earth connections. I had similar on a 197, and mine was earth connection.
Replaced battery but no joy , will check earth leads, thanks
 
Check fuseboxes and ECU for water damage/intrusion. Had a similar thing, one of the fuseboxes was full of water.

Also check the wiring coming directly from the alternator, bend the cable if it feels flexible. Had a Megane with the copper wire corroded from the inside!! Threw all kind of weird codes. Replaced it with quality cable + new alternator and battery, never a problem since.

Last but not least, check for rodents feces etc. They love to chew on wires.

Still struggling with this , seem to have narrowed it down to engine bay fuse box , anybody out there got a spare one for sale ? , thanks.
 
I think they are all the same on Clio 3 (anyone?), the engine bay fusebox is a plastic dud and does not surprise me that it is prone to failing.
 
Still struggling with this electrical problem , I’ve tried a donor full ecu bcm and steering ecu and still no joy , everything works windows etc but no ignition or starting at all, the car is pretty much dismantled can’t find a bad earth or anything, anyone with any ideas , getting desperate now , thanks
 
Do you have a voltmeter? Can you confirm you have power to the key? (Red wire on the connector)
 
I place money its going to be a broken wire somewhere that's possibly went brittle and cracked / snapped.
Renault and wiring are not two things that go well together.

I totally agree but it’s tracing it that’s the problem there’s a ridiculous amount of wires in this car

You have not even scratched the surface with stripping that out yet.
I totally understand what you say about the amount of wires but having someone who knows these cars and is an RS Specialist and is amazing with fault finding / wiring then they are worth there weight in gold.

Luckily I have someone like that and they stuff he knows about wiring / and electrics is out this world.
 
OK the pictures are good the car is in good shape must be a new genuine steering wheel. I think you have went a bit far with this problem I see aftermarket shift lights and radio, the radio interface ties into the can bus network of the car so I would unplug the add on stuff and concentrate on getting comms with the diagnostic port that way with a Renault clip you can check the multiplex network works and the components are powered up you could have a stupid problem like a faulty start button, brake or clutch switch even a faulty keycard, what the info display says is also important I see spade connectors in the glove box area which is not standard so why not tell us what the car has extra and what has been done recently like exhaust, manifold work etc. There is two bits of info you need a PDF of the service manual and Renault Visu (wiring diagrams) which will combined give flow charts for engine start requirements and trouble shooting and the wiring connector diagrams so you can test pins.
