So as most of you saw at the last action day, my cup ended up being collected by an out of control BMW.
So after a short dabble in a the shape of an A3 3.2, the opportunity of this came up:

It became clear to me that the engine really wasn't a happy bunny, using a massive amount of oil so I had one ready to drop in.
I decided to change the wheels to my Team Dynamics Pro Race's with PE2's, and fitted my rear anti roll bar.
I also fitted a snap off steering wheel boss as some additional security.
I then did a renaultsport evening to get my confidence in track days back. (thanks to chip, Lesley and Vikki for it as a birthday present)

Sadly the engine was getting worse and worse until eventually it was burning so much oil I had the DVLA after me trying to claim I was running a diesel.
Engine change time.
I decided to go slightly different than the bodies...
A supercharger conversion came up cheap, and who would I be to resist?

So started removing the kit from the car and prepping it to go into mine.
Old super charger mocking up (mainly as I've no idea how it came apart as I got it in a box of bits!)

All bolted up

And a little experiment, not sure on it as yet, will see how it is behind the bumper.

Old..

1145pm:

And then a lot of this yesterday afternoon...

The new engine I put in sadly was no better than the last, my own fault for not testing it before hand. So with less than 100 miles on it it came apart and I found this:

Ouch. That'll do it. So taken this opportunity to lower the compression slightly as it really didnt want to have any more than 15 degrees advance on ignition. I've done this by fitting a Megane 225 head gasket, and taken the opportunity to fit the ARP's from the old engine.

New rings, and pistons in the bores.
Got to try out my new toy too

Head is on but that's all so far. Sump and belts on Monday night hopefully. I need to wire in the Megane map sensor too.
Well, covered 300 miles since the rebuild now. Feels awesome, went and did the mapping last night, had a mate driving it and he was loving how well it drove.
Have aired on the side of caution on the ignition side until I can have a set of det cans to use. I'm only seeing 15 degrees at WOT.
A quick snap shot of my evening..
