Does anyone happen to know the minimum thickness the cylinder head can be, as I'll be taking the megane cylinder head to a machine shop to be skimmed soon

Cheers

if theres no warp (maximum 0.05mm) on the head then a clean up skim 0.006' is fine

spec I have is 138.15mm for f4r - it also says no head regrinding allowed...

using multi steel gasket it needs to be a very good finish for it to seal

Multi layer gasket is essential for a forged engine. Thickness will change compression ration though:

Megane 225 / 230 - (42.4cc Head) - Red denotes OEM gasket and comp ratio

0.65mm - 9.1:1
0.85mm - 9.0:1
1.30mm - 8.7:1
1.60mm - 8.5:1

Okay thanks for the input guys. I'll take around 0.1mm to 0.2mm off and then get the 1.6mm multi layered gasket to make up the difference.
