Covid Clio Cup

Greetings from Rotorua, New Zealand.

So...a little bit of a story here...

Back in April, with the country in Covid-19 lockdown, what does a car buff have to do except watch Chris Harris drifting on YouTube and browse the classifieds.

I just happened to stumble upon a 200 Cup (the only one for sale in NZ) and thought “Now that would be fun post lockdown” and the scene was set.

The car was advertised with a known issue with third/fourth synchromesh, so I managed to negotiate a gearbox rebuild and new clutch. Only problem was, all repair shops were also in lockdown. Then we discovered that Renault NZ didn’t have the parts in stock.

So three months later, with parts sourced from third parties in the U.K., I finally received my new toy. And with NZ now Covid free, I can drive it to my heart’s content.

All good things come to those that wait!!!
