Clutch/clutch pedal HELP!

Driving down the m1 140 miles from home last night and my clutch pedal decided it doesn't want to do anything anymore... Great.
Spent the whole journey in rush hour traffic praying I don't stop on a hill.
Question is does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

About 10 miles before, it only went for 5th and 6th gear. The lower gears worked fine, then later on down the road, the pedal went. No slipping whatsoever, just couldn't change gear unless I rev matched.
Does anyone know any part of the inner workings of the car that could be wrong?

is there fliud leaking form underneath the engine/gearbox bell housing area?

has the brake fluid level dropped a lot?

if theres no leaks it could be the master cylinder that's gone and not the slave...

Clutch issues and especially the slave cylinder seems to be a bit of an issue for a few cars. Could be that the clutch needs bleeding as I know it fixed somebody else's car when they had issues at a track day. As foxspeed states, check for fluid loss. When my slave went it dropped a significant amount of brake fluid.
