Clio 3 RS F1 Team R27 Meglio - it will be a trackcar

Made a bit more today, I'm almost done.
It is now only being built in such a way that everything works properly. If everything runs smoothly, the aluminum parts will be powder coated black etc.
Now the blowoff is missing, unfortunately not yet delivered.
first start after installing the fuel system was also successful today, I also adjusted the fuel pressure.
Runs nice and clean, the pump in the catch tank really makes a lot noise :flushed::laughing:
And amazing what the turbocharger does in terms of sound in contrast to the series or hybrid charger.

Then I assembled the lower part of the car, unfortunately I noticed that the right drive shaft is scrap.
Was already welded when i took the car over, which surprised me because they were pressed at the factory.
Now I know why :smile: The inserted part has 1-2mm of play. I'm surprised it even lasted several track days :grin:
New drive shaft is already ordered. After all, we don't want the shaft to tear off with 400 hp and smash something straight away. :oops:

It continued yesterday:
1. new driveshaft is in.
2. We started to rebuild the ESD.

soooooooo. Went on with "little things" again.
1. Everything is as good as done, first test drive last Saturday and everything works fine and nothing is leaking.
2. The steering linkage was lowered by 8mm with spacer sleeves (makes about 2.5-3cm) and the steering wheel was lowered due to the low seating position.

3. Diffusor cut-out brought to "final size", soon it's time to paint.

4. For the new fuel lines that go along under the car, 3D printed parts were created for fastening.
Likewise, the complete exhaust is now equipped with V-band clamps and the CAT is set back as far as possible, now nothing is plugged in anymore.

A wonderful job you are doing young man. Have you considered having the air filter in the nearside wheel arch?. Gives you a lot more room under the bonnet, and of course, the air is cooler. Mine has been in this area for a couple of years, survived downpours/standing water, and never had a problem. My swirl pot is in the footwell, and I have never, ever, come across anything so noisy, cured by wearing ear plugs!. Please keep updating posts/pictures.

The inlet of the airbox shows to the wheel arch. I want to extend a hose to the foglight hole ( i have no foglights in).
Yeah the swirlpot is loud AF but the car is in General not quiet so... For racetrack all good
 
Nice build mate love the centre exit exhaust and the way you smoothed out the original holes either side it looks oem

The smoothed out front grill(s) where actually done by the previous owner and came with the car (see first pic with red plate).

Credit where credit is due. Right, KoZa? :wink:
 
I also have something “new” and little problems every now and then.
Went to the first track day with the new setup on Friday.

Unfortunately, after almost 15-20 laps of Bilster Berg, power and whistling noises started very late, I initially thought it was a charge air system, unfortunately not :-D
A quick inspection and I saw directly that a turbo bolt had come off and the entire gasket had burned away.

End of song -> engine pulled again the next day.

All 4 bolts/nuts from the loader loose.


Parts have been ordered, some “special” things that have a long delivery time.

I think the engine can be put back in place in 1-2 weeks.
In addition, the turbocharger is for milling, as the Garrett chargers have the problem that they are not always 100% flat on the screw surface.

You can clearly see here that the nuts are crooked, but it only really became apparent after I removed them and when I look at the nuts from below I can see that the pressure points are not even everywhere. Could also have been a reason for the problem.

I feel your pain, I had the downpipe bolts back out on me the day before a Track Day. Not a fun job.
