clio 200 de cat

im looking at getting a de cat for my 200, is this a worth while mod ? and does anyone know the best place to have it fitted in the midlands. cheers

Is the rest of the exhaust going to be staying standard?

You'll get more noise and more of a flat spot. How much more noise will depend on the rest of your system though.

I don't think you'll see any gains in terms of performace to be honest.

If you want more noise then you'd be better off having the centre silencer removed instead, will cost around £50-75 at any exhaust place.

Yeah, they just lop the centre silencer out and weld (or clamp if you ask them) a straight bit of pipe in.

Anywhere like Longlife/Powerflow etc. will do it for definate but most exhaust places should do it too unless they're being arsey.

Sounds like this;

No, won't need a remap. You will still probably notice the flat spot a little more but not as bad as you would with a decat.

I got mine done at Top Gear Stockport. Might be a bit of a drive for yourself, but they're good lads and just off the M60 (Jct.25) so it might not be too bad really depending where in the Midlands you are. I would imagine that there'd be some places more local to yourself though if you didn't want to travel that far to have it done. It shouldn't take them more than 45 Minutes so budget for an hours labour plus a couple of quid for the pipe itself. I think I paid £60 last March...

No probs.

It's one of those mods that you won't gain anything from in terms of performance but you'll be grinning like an idiot afterwards.

Oh there'll be plenty of that.

This is onboard with microphone mounted in the boot...

No it wasn't too bad to be honest. If you're sat at a constant speed then it isn't too much louder than standard. It was louder on idle and when under load it absolutely screamed hahaha! Pops and bangs on demand and sounded like a machine gun on the overrun.

I've changed it now to the K-Tec system which is actually a bit less pop/bang-ish.

I'll be fiddling with that soon though.

Ok what about sensors and stuff cuz iv seen a de cat pipe on ktec site and it's got a sensor hole in it ? Will I have warning lights by just fitting a piece of pipe

No, all of the sensors are before the centre silencer so it doesn't raise any warnings.

On the decat you'll need to insert the second lambda as you would with a cat or sports-cat, which is what the hole is for. As far as I know people have ran without that cat and had no lights. There's still a primary cat in the manifold collector that does most of the work anyway...

I had mine done at Top Gear in Stockport on Saturday. I paid £70 and he did it in half an hour whilst I waited with a cup of coffee. There's a subway 15 seconds walk away if you're hungry. I had my car serviced this morning so could have taken a picture of it whilst it was on the ramp if I'd seen this thread earlier! It looks a very good job, the length of the pipe is about 50cm.

It's the best £70 you will spend on your Clio!

After hearing my mates Corsa VXR, with decat and centre silencer removed, I am going to have a ring around tomorrow and get mine done! Was going to get a full cat back system, but for £40-£70 you cant go wrong! Only looking for the noise anyway and not bothered about the flat spot as I don't drive in that part of the rev range
