It's a Godspeed kit with internal curved vane rotors, not floating.

The previous kit was Reyland but we had heat issues which we think was down to the straight vane rotors in the Reyland kit.

Made some changes to the car. Added some toe shim's to rear to give me more toe out at the rear. Hopefully improve turn in and make it slightly looser. Another benefit it'll help scrub tyres so hopefully less pick up sticking to the rears.

Added black series Powerflex gearbox mount and the difference is mega. Gear changes are loads better ! Which had done it a lot sooner.

Still aruging the toss with ackrapovic over a replacement centre section. Getting beyond a joke now 2bh.

Trip back to RS tuning tomorrow aswell for few runs on the dyno to check her over. Make sure nothing's a miss.

Brands report...

Timeattack - Brands Hatch Round 3.

After never driving Brands, what a track! Really enjoyable. Feel like picked it up quite quickly. Paddock hill is like no other corner I've come across on track before.

The car felt great all day with no issues and any adjustments we made to car we just went faster throughout the day.
Car felt good on the new KW set up.

Last year fastest time in clubman was a 59.9 so going off that I wanted to least get into the 58s. A second round brands is a quite abit as its a shirt circuit. warmup I did a very low 58 and knew it was possible to go quicker and into the 57s. In qualifying I did a 57.6 and in final I did my the fastest lap -57.4! I was happy with this as my personal target time was beaten and last years time was smashed.

I really wanted to get P2 in class ( P1 is out of reach) and All day it was close between me and Pete for p2 . There was around half a second between us in every session during the day.

In the final with dad waving me on from pit wall to go quicker , I put 2 laps in at the end which felt good ( last lap , quickest time of the day for me ) And truthfully thought I had done enough for P2 in class. I come in and was told Missed out by 0.1 of a second. So so close !!

For Brands we was joined by 2 OHW ( fiesta ST and Clio 182 ) which were good to drive against.

So it was P3 and P3 again but we are getting closer to getting P2 which is encouraging coming from Pembrey.
Only place i can see where he was quicker is the speed traps by 2/3 mph so I need to try carry that bit more speed through the corners.

Well done to Jordan and Pete for p1&p2.

Round 4 is Oulton Park in 3 weeks and I'm very much looking forward too it. I did oulton last year as OHW so got my own time to beat and hopefully have no gearbox issues the night before lol!

Thanks To dad , mum and Amanda for giving another weekend up and supporting me.

Again thanks to the companies that have supported me for this year!

After Brands the car was acting a little werid. Mainly on start up from cold! Idle was awful and sounded likeit was missing now ands then. After trying the basic's i made trip to Jade development to get him to plug renault clip in. Pedal senor and throttle body fault ! Apparanlty these throttle bodies dont like Kerbs. its causes the butterly to jump and buzz the engine revs without moving throttle pedal which in turn confuses it. He reset the throttle body and The car felt alot better on way home! Pheww problem sorted...

NOT!!

Car still acting up and unkown to me was running bit flat and under powered which i later discovered. So after speaking to Paul @ RS tuning the desision was made too get it up there to put on the rollers! The result ....

RED was pervoius when he mapped it
GREEN was what was doing :worried:

As can see its down on power and running rich! without going into detail the course of it after messing round for ages.... The powerflex bushes of all things! When he mapped it they were not fitted. Dread to think what torque loss was aswell!!!!

The issue was that the powerflex bushes where triggering the Knock senor !!! It was thinking was engine knock when there wasnt and was turning the timing 6 degrees out and chunking loads fuel in :worried: Every time he run it off with knock sensor turned off it was fine!!! typcial eh! All sorted now hopefully and he re tweeked thr map accordingly, aswell as lowering the knock sensor level at low RPM which is where was been set off.

How it is now

too think at Pembrey when been beat by 1/2 second or at Brands when miss out by 0.1 of second... The missing time is there clear to see. if car was 100% id of MADE thst time up so easily!!! Gutted was understandment but was own fault should gone there sooner after the misfire issue at Prembry. lesson learnt but very harsh one.

All this was fixed in time for Round 4 at Oulton Park  ! Going into the event knowing car was good now pushed me on even more and pleased to say walked away with 2nd/2nd and closed some time down to the Turbo'd tyre R !

Here's the race report - In morning sessions the rain allowed me and clio too come into our own, with times reflecting that! even out doing ben collins in a more capable car

Time Attack round 4 - Oulton Park.

Oulton park . My favourite track and one where knew could do well knowing that car was back too 100% after Paul at RST fixed it. Looking back the engine issue cost me P2 at brands but hey that's Motorsport . It can be cruel. It's All a learning curve.
Following the weather closely all week I was praying that it would Rain. Waking up Saturday morning I was greeted to dry weather and Arriving at Oulton it was still dry so it was looking like my rain dance on Friday night wasn't going to pay off lol! But during the drivers Briefing the heavens opened and the rain did just come down!! Enjoy driving the Clio In the wet and makes everything a level'er playing field .

PRACTICE - now by this point the rain had hit hard and there was a large amount of standing water, Bit too much in places. We all went out and ended coming in after few laps as car was just too stiff on front so come in and softened it up. Car felt better but still wasn't right. Stuck couple half hearted laps in which turned out put be p1 in group and 3rd overall.

WARM UP - The rain had continued but wasn't as heavy so track had cleared up abit. Mainly the standing water . We made few more changes to front suspension and car felt loads better during warm up. Managed to put few decent laps in and was gaining more confidence in wet finding the grip
Levels. Come in and again was p1 in class and P3 in group! . Think we took nearly 10 seconds out of my practice time. Also went quicker than Ben Collins AKA the Stig. May only been warmup but I'll be taking that one!!
Sadly after this the weather turned around. The rain didn't hold out as of hoped. The Sun come out and it went warm so didn't take much time for track to dry. Least now could try and out do last years time I set of 1.47.2

QUALIFYING - On went the semi slicks and few clicks turned back on too the Suspension. After getting feel for the drying track and altering tyre pressures I Banged few laps in near end of the session that did me what I needed to Take P2 ! Happy, that was my target. I needed to take p2. My time was a 1.45.2 so beating last years time.
During the last few laps I thought was a issue with car as steering felt funny. Lucky turned out that tyre was eating away at the arch liner which tied in with car still feeling soft on front.

FINAL - By now the track had fully dryed. Few more clicks on front suspension and whatever dad did to rear. Still won't tell me. Anyway P2 was MY target again. After a early red flag we come in and dropped front tyre pressures slightly. Back out on my out lap I had a slight moment going into Druids. Cold tyres and going too deep into corner resulted into a trip through gravel which managed to get out of and avoided any contact with the barrier! Trying not too knock my confidence I just built my speed back up. The final lap of the Final I put my fastest lap in which was a 1.44.9! Again that gave me
P2! Job done!!

Doing a 1.44.9 Smashed my

Last years time so that target was hit too!!

I did what set out apart from dropping the trophy ( base fell
Off) that wasn't in my game
Plan :worried: lol.

Too my surprise the Clio Won best presented car of the Day! Winner!!

So all in all Oulton was a good day!! Just shame the rain didn't stay.

Thanks to everyone that has helped me leading up to Oulton. Thanks too Dad , mum , Manda , Steve and Tracy for coming to
Support me yet again means a lot, aswell as all of the sponsors!!
Hopefully will have some go pro footage soon

Now for a nice break leading up to Croft.

Powerflex issue MIGHT explain some of my recent problems.

Engine Dynamics have had an email from me already this morning !

-Paul spent ages messing with it for good 45mins trying everything with no joy. In end just stood at front car saying "what done to it, what have fitted, you've changed something ". Last thing expected to be was powerflex bushes so kept saying not touched it, changed nothing engine wise.

then soon as said swapped suspension and powerflex bushes he went Ahhhh. Jumped back in run it up and it was fine. All did was turn knock sensor off. so we bar's engine as far over to right as we could get it and he then tweeked what was there.

he said he's had it in the past, the knock sensors are mega senesiitive on these and the mega apparently. Think ink standard cars are ok just once mapped , think build it in too make them more sensitive .

- Worth a try, tell them to monitor the knock sensor.

- gald you enjoy the thread and the TA reports. Makes
it worth while writing.

- Use the Pirelli P Nero in the wet, Pirelli Trofeo in the Dry. P nero is good in wet, not quite as good as the Conti sport 5s but very close

I've spoken to Andy @ Engine Dynamics this morning @Chris_200CUP (Who mapped my car previously). He generously said he'll look at my car again - bearing in mind the problem i had was supposedly excessive knock (We tried everything inc new sensors, new injectors etc and still never quite got it right).

Do i presume your running everything BLACK Powerflex; bush-wise ?

Thanks for the input and help.

No im only running the normal powerflex ones! But I have all engine and gearbox ones so it is very stiff. Dread to think what black engine mounts would be like ! Also the kW KA with stiffer Springs making ride harder too

paul turned down how much knock sensor reads assuming they can do
same. On light / part throttle it's not reading much but once it's into VVTI it's back to normal

Thanks hugely for the info @Chris_200CUP.

Thanks for the info. I'm running all normal uprated ones too (Yellow series). Engine and gearbox.

So yours wasn't reading much knock on part throttle.....what then happens when into VVTi ? Or have they altered the knock sensors sensitivity to be lower low-down, and back to normal higher up the range ?

****Mine started to read what appeared to possibly be "rogue" knocking as it entered peak torque at around 5400rpm.

No that's when it was triggering the knock sensor on light or part throttle as build up acceleration! If Stamped on the throttle it didn't Happen sometimes.

He has set it less senesiitive for lower RPM driving but goes back to normal reading higher up rev range. What I'd suggest is do what he did, turn the knock sensor off and run it up few times on rollers and see what happens! Also try bar engine mount across to the right.

Wish I had torque reading so could seen what was doing

Booked Evening trackday at Donnington on 8th Augest. Bit of
extra seat time in car and itll give me some time to play with the KWs. Haven't been too Donny for 2 years now so looking forward to it!! Really good
following circuit so should enjoyable in Clio. Only ever done it in the RSs. Craners should be interesting

Croft this weekend for RD5 of TA!

no car updates. Did hope to have some lighter alloys save some weight but that went tits up lol

Also got a light weight crank pully coming , sadly that hasn't arrived in time either :worried: lol

hopefully weekend goes slightly better !

Donny evening session went well, dunno how happy the GTR and 911 were about the clio lol. Think found a good set up for he suspension now which is good. Knew weren't far off getting it feeling right.
