Clio 197 vs Golf GTI

Straight line off the lights, with the GTI having a better start, the clio pulled first gear to level pegging, 2nd gear to go in front by quarter car length, 3rd gear Golf had to go behind and eat dust as the clio left it.

Clio is standard other than ITG panel
GTI - MODS unknown. (probably standard)

Anyone had similar experiences?

Some nice places, like where I live, or outskirts. Near the centre it's a joke.
It has the worst postcode for car insurance, next to parts of Manchester and Hull.

the GTI is faster from a start for sure but if you go from a rolling start they are pretty even. I drive an mk6 GTI on a regular basis and it's a good, well finished car but the Clio provides much bigger smiles
