Change Stereo or not change stereo

Whats the advantages and disadvantages of changing the Standard stereo over?

I've got an Alpine CD/MP3/IPOD stereo, which i have had in my two previous cars and love it!

I know with know having steering controls i can buy i lead so i can still use these.

Also just fitted some Pioneer speakers in the back as i didn't have anyway.

Would the standard speakers, and the Pioneer speakers benefit from having a bit more 'juice' going to them as the Alpine is 4x50w?

I thought the standard CD player was ok in the 200 tbh, but we have an Alpine iPod control one so put that in and have the adaptor for the wheel controls.

Sound is definately better. Looks better to.

Yes 100%! I'm not usually one for faffing about with stereo's, ran round in various RS clios with the standard HU, but I've changed the one in my 197 cup and not looked back! Night and day difference in quality

Disadvantage is you usually lose the center display and they don't blend in all that well.

It was a faff but i'm glad I changed mine and it blends in relatively well, bit over complicated as they feel the need to add in 10000 options you never need but with bluetooth and usb connectivity it connects to anything and everything.

Can anyone up some pics with their replacements in? I'm in 2 minds whether to change mine over as I would like ipod control...

That was what mine used to look like a few months back before I started changing everything.
My iPhone connector is in the glovebox along with the charging lead.

I'd say change it. The only thing I miss is the readout in the dash but that's something easy to put up with. The gains in the sound and the different things I can now connect to it or play with it easily outweighs the loss.
