Car won't start - Steering not locked

Hey,
Nothing new so far, I have taken it to a renault specialist and he believes that it's the sensor on the gearbox.
He will be replacing it, also fixing the wiring there as it's messed up by someone previously and hopefully this will fix it. I will ask him to replace the tdc sensor as well.

That's all... Do you have the same problem?

Okay so update on my issue (hopefully the last one).
I took it to Engine Dynamics in Essex, I left it there for a week. They managed to replicate the issue and they also found that the loom sensor was replaced by an aftermarket one by the previous owner. On top of that, the wiring was done poorly.

They have replaced both the loom and crank sensors. They have been trying to replicate the problem with no more success, so I would expect that the issue is resolved.

I will do further testing on my own, but I hope that it's over!
I can only speak highly of them, they had a lot of patience for such a bizarre problem.

Have seen this happen a couple of times. Each time it has either been the crank sensor or steering lock. Hopefully the crank sensor has sorted it though!

They did say that if there is a fault in the sensors or any part of the steering column, the entire column has to be replaced, as it's coded to the car.

Is this true? This is very scary!

That is true indeed, I checked.
However, they've only had one issue over many years!
