Cam timing

I understand that to time a 197/200 you need a specific cam lock with a 7 degree advance on the inlet.
Can the engine be safely timed with the none 197/200 cam lock? Or would it be apparent that the engines timing was wrong?

There is a cam locking tool and both cams are level, there is a group N timing tool for the 182 Clio that I think advances the exhaust but the map has to match. I have never seen a 197 group N timing tool.

Video of a 182 timing belt change they guy uses the group N tool for it after adding 197 cams

Right that clears it up. Factory setting on all f4r engines the cams are locked in a 0 degree position. Where as the group n spec is 7 degrees of I let timing.
I don’t see why it cannot be done to all f4r engines provided it’s mapped correctly.
