Bye 200, hello 265 Trophy (6/50)

Ahhh i see, so the sport button just sharpens throttle response and changes exhaust note?

How come you changed back to a 200?

As I said the Trophy is a very good car on the track, it has fantastic grip levels and the traction coming out of corners is fantastic, a very very memorable car.

Unfortunately for me, what I found was that to get that adrenalin rush in the Trophy, it happens at totally unrealistic speeds on the Queens highway, and I found that to get that smile on your face, the speeds you were doing were, not just silly but go to jail stuff. The only place you can really get the most out of the car is on track.

I find that there are more smiles on my face in the Clio as a daily car, with the limits of grip lower, you can have a lot more fun at legal speeds, than you do in the Trophy.

It is not just the Trophy, but most modern high powered cars are now like this. It is all very well having 600bhp, but it is all over so quickly that you don't have time to really enjoy it.

Just my opinion, but an old mk2 Escort, sliding at 50mph from one corner to the next in complete control is more fun than your life in the hands of a car capable of cornering at over 100mph, that when it goes wrong your dead.

Yeah, when in it earlier it was very very easy to get into licence loosing speeds. Found it just as fun to drive as the clio but the with the added bonus of extra power!

Just cant wait to go collect it now

Yeah, they said his name but couldnt remember his second name. His R26.R is stunning too!

Sounds like he taken very very good care of his cars

Thanks! Good to know

Also, you find the MPG much better than a clio out of interest?

I get better mpg out the Clio if I'm honest.

It's too easy to heavy right footed and it just drops like a stone. On track you get 7-9mpg.

Is there anything you want to know about the car and I'll ask Paul for you.

I would also say the the Clio is more "fun" day to day but the meg is far easier to live with.

I use the trophy 60/40 and keep the 200 for weekends.

His R is immaculate but then it does have a £2,000 full clear wrap! Think it has 17k on the clock and he only did around 700 miles in it in the last 2 years.

Welcome to the club, a must mod is the mid box chop, totally changes the feel of the car without it being too intrusive like a cat back exhaust, also rip out the foam insulation in the airbox (thats if there on the 265) and fit a pipercross give is a nice induction noise when pulling off.

I've spoke to Paul and the car has never been out in salt, rarely in the wet and cleaned deeply after.

He changed the oil after trackdays and twice yearly between them.

This looks as if it has just gone out from the show room! Immaculate!

Looking good mate, LY with gloss black roof is absolutely immense

There isnt much i can think to ask to be honest, but thanks for the offer!

It seems like hes kept the car in amazing condition, i couldnt fault the interior/exterior or the way it drives, even if i tried! You know him from the Renault sport forum?

Wow ! Proper wel Jel at the moment ! Looks the dogs that kid !

ive been looking at focus RS's and 250s 265s and R34s but I can't get allllllllll my fishing gear in :tongueout: but also I think it's coz I miss my 200 :worried: ,

But yet again I think that is a option on the shopping list

I'm gonna buck the trend on this thread and say I'm not a fan.

Don't really like the trophy much and LY on a Meg would be so far down on my list of colour preference.

I'm happy that you got it tho Steve. I know its been tough.

So Spa next year my friend
yeah, just need to get all the cost in front of me and see how it looks (will be planning a holiday a similar time). I think I'd probsbly go as passenger round spa if possible/any offers, but do a lap or so of the 'ring so I can say I've done it!

Me and Paul do a lot of trackdays together but yes I met him via the renaultSport forum.

He dotes over his cars and they are very well maintained, oil, brakes etc
