It's a tricky one as the texture is really ruff so my metal polish creams don't work. As you say I think a brush is needed but what chemical liquid to use as I don't want to damage it in anyway :-/
Maybe an alloy wheel cleaner might work the one where you brush it on then leave for a little while to work except I can't wash it off so will have to use a damp/wet cloth.

Believe it or not - i thoroughly cleaned mine with soapy water when i first got the car - using a tooth-brush and now keep the finish uniform by applying ArmorAll plastic protectant on it.
Keeps it one colour, kind of soaks in and penetrates a bit and stops the alloy from 'drying out' and going dry / dusty coloured as it will in places.
There. My secret is out.
Il have to dig out my old bottle of armoural tomorrow then. I used to use this stuff all the time on exterior plastic trim but found the Autoglym plastic stuff was better as it lasted longer.
I guesss its like most things when cleaning If done on a regular basis it gets better each time.

I'm a bit of a novice when it comes detailing products and need to do some homework on today's best cleaning products. Iv always used Autoglym super resin polish on my cars and only recently found out it had cutting compounds in, worked well only mk 1 TT but then the paintwork is 17yrs old. I need a good wax for the clio.

Don't get @sevenfourate started about detailing, he won't stop! :excited:
Seriously though there's tonnes of useful info on here in the detailing section, just prepare your wallet as once the detailing bug bites, it bites hard!!!
Any pics of the car yet Paul or have I missed it?
