Best of both worlds?

Like when most men and cars get together, discussion was about POWER.!!!! TBH Didn't feel like willy wavin', just landscape changed with Forced induction proving to its worth. Track days are also gonna be more popular with more members, and people will naturally want more tuneable power than NA.

Furthermore recognise that its not big or clever to be using your daily driver regularly on track days (especially if you still owe money on it)....so I'm doing my sums.

More power
Forged Engine 3k
Forced Induction or ITB's 5k
=8k
Ideally, would like to do coilovers and brakes if going more track days so lets call it 10k

Thats the price of a really nice track prepared 182 so why would I want to put 10k into preparing mine when I could have the best of both worlds?

Anyone interested in 500 pound shares in purchasing a track day car that we could use at events. Bit like buying a race horse.

I know the logistics of who owns it, storage, insurance and many other stuff but would be kind of cool a forum track car!!!

like the idea but many pitfalls for it to work properly...

a clio197/200.net track slag car :thumbup1:

1 or 2 sharing is fine but not more, just not worth the outlay to hassle.

Getting it to track days, storage, insurance both track and everyday and track time.

Great thought but only workable on 2 or 3 really good friends.

if you gonna do it i'd by a 225 and just strip the poop out of it, far cheaper in the long run.

or do what i did and just buy 265 and keep the clio.

i have been waiting for a cat d 172/182/205 for a long while now as i wanna have a track day car, until then i will keep spending on my turbo'd one

Same as others really Litchy, great idea but its getting it to work, what happens if one person bins it, I'm sure others won't want to stump up to get it fixed.

My plan is to eventually turn the Clio into a dedicated track car that I can drive to and from the track.... Trouble is I can't bring myself to have a cheap economical daily run about, my next daily will be an exige so until then the Clio is my bitch

As said (as in fairness as I said), it would be a logistical nightmare on the forum. More realistic, would have been great maybe a one off 500 quid track slag. Drive it at an event and then scrap it. Would be quite fun preparing it over a weekend, few beers and a laugh. Friends are doing a escort at moment, they've had a right laugh. Got children's car seats in it, the lot.

Was just a thought.... eh oh

I know where screen wash goes.

tbh it would still be a mare, getting to and fro and insurance mot etc.

banger racing and it may work, ren 19 16V or something.

I think it's a great idea litchy, and if we all lived a bit closer it would be easier.

I already have a track slag though.

We call him Jonesy

In that case mate, we should do the Dumball, kinda like the Gumball but for old bangers.

http://www.dumball.org/

Entries are closed for this year but they usually run through europe. The Rally is in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust which some of you know is very close to me and Caroline. Entry is, by way of raising a minimum of £2000 in sponsorship.

All you need is the old banger, fuel and your flight ticket home. Accommodation is provided.

Check out the pictures, some of the cars are proper good. I'd be up for this next year, it can be done in pairs so you can share the cost of the car and fuel.

I like the idea of raising money for a charity and having some fun in the process. The forum becomes a bit more than exhausts and wheel nuts.

I'm up for the Dumball, definitely.

Litchy, have a word with Mikeh197 about his 182, he may be up for a slag share.
