AT THrottle Bodies

You are right there Ben, however if you are not into absolute power but raw NA experience - cable throttle and awesome soundtrack yes please, (as you know of course) - then a complete itb package is just right (for some). For example if I had an 172/182 it'd be on itbs and not FI knowing that I wouldn't even be close to power of the latter example.

You went the extra mile of course no question about that, i'd personally be happy with just a set of itbs plugged onto my existing setup while maintaining the dash and drivability (not deleting vvt for instance).

If someone comes with such a reasonably priced package offering the above I'lll be game!

Even with a standalone ECU the F4R in 197/200 form is quite limited IMO. I had to replace pistons to accommodate higher lift cams worth doing anything. It has to be remembered the F4R has been around for 14 years now and started at 170bhp so by the time it reached the 197 already had 30 bhp worth of N/A tuning.

I spent around 7k on the pistons, cams, ITBs and ECU and I rolled at 230bhp on honest rollers. Bang for buck the meg conversion will always be the better choice... IMO of course!

Exactly what's taking place with the engine I'm having built up as we speak.

high comp pistons with some wild valve pockets, new H section rods, some nice headwork, pretty wild profile cams, the billet flywheel and goodies arrived the other day aswell.
omex on order, and just need to sort the bodies, so the offerings from Titan could be a contender dependant on what it comes with.
just trying to source the cable driven throttle pedal now.

pedal is available from renailt sport, cup race car uses cable throttle

172 ph1 also fits, that's what I used.

I loved the way my 197 drove on ITBs the instant throttle response, soundtrack and revving the nuts off it really made for an involving and exciting drive especially on track. But then I drove the boosted 265 and immediately decided boost is more exciting than N/A.

It's the ph1 I'm after for mine now.
i agree ben_r1, I had a set I SBDevelopments bodies on an old XE vauxhall engine in a nova back in the late '90's, and then the NOS aswell, all made for a bit of fun

Good old Sandy Brown.

I used to have a Nova too! I feel we have a lot of similarities Kelv lol

Sandy Brown? I thought he was pug related?

i had a nova featured in 1996 in Max Power (when it was a reasonably decent mag) for the fastest nova in the country, competing against te likes of John Shield of Courtney Turbo fame.
moved from vauxhall to ford as a whole host of focus RS's and Cossies, and now a clio as a bit of fun as a track car

My bad, I know who you mean now (SBD) I thought you shortened Sandy Brown lol.

my old beast

Steve Broughton
the other place for bodies back then was QED, who specialised in vauxhall engines.

looked nice Gez.
amoungst the novas I had I did own a 16v XE silk violet gsi aswell, loved the colour.

bloody hell that brought back memories Kelv! I used to buy that magazine back then when I was in Greece, I've def seen your car! Any pics by any chance??

Yiannis197, I'll see what I can find and scan them so I can post them on here
Fernandez, when do you think you will have more info and option prices on the bodies buddy?

I should have more info early next week mate.

Then you just need to find an ecu and mapper that can set them up to run for you!!

Im even dubious on mappers after seeing a particular 'custom' file that someone was claiming for with stampings from anothers work and then a sarcastic comment about copying in the unused section of map file....

I think in the world of mapping, a lot of base maps have done the rounds and been borrowed by other tuners, officially or unofficiallay it clearly happens.
i think with tuning it's always down to who you feel comfortable with handing your money over to, as long as you know they are a respectable tuner in the first place.

as many that are probably on here, I've been around the heavily tuned car scene for 20years now and was also heavily involved within a Time Attack team running 800bhp cossie engines, so I would like to think I know which tuner I can trust by now when it comes to this side of things.
i don't wish to sound cocky as that's not me, but I do feel happy and confident with who I trust to take on that task

I'm up for that, just need to confirm what's included.
id also like to know the full measurement between the base of the bodies to the tip of the trumpets, I'd like to go for the longest option possible but obviously working within a tight space.
