Assigning a private plate to a currently SORN car?

Is this possible?

The car has MOT until end of March but i wasn't going to tax it until January.

Don't think so. As far as I know it needs to have a least tax on it if not an mot as well.

Says on the form it needs to be taxed ! Just had a look.

Such a bull**** system...

You can't retain it after buying it you need to put it on a car first.

You can't put it on a car without tax.

You can't tax a car that's not insured.

And to top it off you can't even call DVLA on a Sunday to ask.

Just buy tax whilst you get the plate on it, then reclaim it from post office when its done.

Then I'd also have to buy insurance and cancel it, and I'm currently banned until January so that's temporarily £1300 out of pocket and it's too much hassle for a private plate

Is this a new plate you've just purchased? I was always under the impression that you had 12 months in which to assign the plate.

Nah I have my own plate already and I was maybe going to buy a new one privately !
