are these noises normal?

Only had the car 3 weeks now (57 plate 197) and have the following issues


there is a really annoying noise when you hit around 3200rpm(like a humming or vibration from engine/exhaust)
there is a knocking noise from underneath the gearstick
there is also a knocking noise from the engine bay

nope not normal !!!!

but all could be same thing - exhaust center mount could be at fault

vibrations, could be the crimped cover on the engine mount, the knocking could be suspension, does your car have the cup set up.

personally, i reckon its from the same source. does the noise carry on after 3200rpm or is it just around that speed? does it stop with more or less revs?

sounds like something in the engine/exhaust is reaching its resonant frequency at 3200rpm, maybe a linkage in the exhaust has come loose, or a joint on the gear linkage or something?

That is when it is worst. Above that exhaust note is quite droney.

Just got call from dealer today and apparently the drone I am getting around 3200rpm is something renault know about but don't know what causes it and tag it as just part of the drive. Does anyone else have similar noise?
