Hi all,

Are there are detailers in here who either do that professionally or as a side job? I'm looking to have mine done and willing to travel a reasonable distance.

I had my car done quite a few years back from a forum member and he did a smashing job but I've lost his contact details and I can't remember his username, doubt he is still in here though...

Give me a shout and if you do or know someone who does, I live in London but as said, don't mind the trek:smile:

@Moono16v those pics look sick mate but @redSTAG is quite closer to me, Manchester would be a bit of a trek for me!

@redSTAG when can we do it mate? i'm in London and Essex is not that far away. Have you got a garage or is it going to be a street job? I'm looking for a full on detailing really except wheels as they are brand new.

You can message me with the logistics if you like but just to let you know, I haven't got the car yet, i'm picking it up from the garage next month.

Damn, good work. I spent last weekend washing, claying, polishing and sealing mine. My first go so I decided not to do any cutting and there's still very faint occasional spots of sap or something, but I could see the look in my wife's eyes and chose to stay married.

It's so much effort that I would pay someone who knew what they were doing to get it done and feel like it was a brilliant deal, but what I'd really like is it to be done so good that it can be sealed up properly. Being a white 200, I'd love a thick lacquered look to the finish then getting locked in with a proper ceramic sealant. I may do it sometime soon, there's a bunch round here (also west London like the OP)

On the same note of Detailing and Ceramic coating....

I'm an extremely keen hobbyist. And take alot of care and attention to the paint on my cars, and the washing / maintenance of said vehicles. I've previously used good quality sealants / waxes....but have never got involved with Ceramic coatings (Is it REALLY the be-all and end-all ???). And thought i might treat the Clio to a Ceramic coating......

Now i well realise most of the cost is in the prep; which in itself buys you some longevity / quality of finish etc. But bearing in mind the paint is what i'd describe as 'exceptional' on the Clio; the first quote i just had was £685. That's for nothing but the Paintwork and wheels i asked for (Wheels which have not been used since being freshly powdercoated - so again require the minimal amount of prep possible). I'm sure he said that would be for a single stage polish. Which in itself must tell you he thinks the paint is very good. Or that he can't be arsed 'wasting' more time on it ! Then again perhaps i'm so out of touch on what can be commanded for this work.

Got another local firm coming Sunday now to have an initial look, but i do kinda feel the first quote is 'pants being pulled down' and no less. Guess we'll see what the second chap says, but i couldn't and still can't believe for the state its in - that £500 wouldn't get you a really nice job.

Anyone else got any views ?
 
That is definitely the higher end, but it's an indoor job that'll take two days so you're paying for the product and all the time involved. It does cost an awful lot more than getting your car cleaned, but having spent the best part of two days doing it myself (with a DA machine) it's definitely not easy work.

The sealant I used was Gtechniq C2 V3 and it's pretty good. I had a load of dirt dry on, then it rained and most of it washed off. From a distance it still looks really clean, but up close I probably need to give it a hose. I hope and expect that a proper ceramic sealant would do the same, but for longer and perhaps better. I'm guessing.
