Air intake pipe missing

Hi I'm missing a pipe from my air filter and wondering if it could harm engine without it?

This is pipe I don't have which has a vacuum pipe

Not really, it'll still go through the filter in the side hole but it won't be optimum and a little loud.

Probably had a cone on it before mate or the previous owner took it off for more airflow.

Doesn't really work as a benefit though as your sucking in air closer to the exhaust manifold. Ew.
