Air con delete

Thanks for reply. Should have said it's a meg engine if makes any difference. Sorry !

No difference mate, I have just removed my F4r for an f4rt conversion and it will be the exact same setup. Been done plenty.

Any reason why you can't just fit correct length belt after removing air con

Give it a try, stretch belt way takes a good weight off the crank pulley with the 172 item, and there's no issues in normal running

I've found a pulley on eBay and gates do a belt. I assume I can use the original alloy mounting plate and just remove pump and pipes etc

Sorry to jump in, but is this the right pulley from a 1*2 Clio? It's listed as an idler pulley, but seems to have right mount...upload_2017-7-28_8-42-21.png

Ok so found one on eBay but doesn't look too hot. Can't find a good one anywhere. Am I right in thinking not good idea to fit lighter solid pulley as losing the harmonic balancer is a bad idea ?

I run the kit @Flacsi makes on here with the smaller lightweight pulley.
Had a few teething issues with the bolt coming undone on the pulley but two 50p nordlock fittings fixed the kit and makes it perfect.

I found a solid crank pulley on eBay which I think will just use with no tension as said earlier

That's the kind of set up I run. Just the smaller crank pulley and a belt that goes around the alternator. Instead of using a stretch belt though I use a little adjustable link on the alternator to set the belt tension. It all comes as a kit anyway.

The smaller crank pulley doesn't cause charging issues?

Nope no issues.
Been running it for 6 months.
If anything the alternator will spin slower, I think roughly by about 25-30% so it would be the same effect as driving at 2.5k Around town rather than 5k on the motorway.

Do you use the standard alloy bracket and just lose the pump or do you have to use bracket from cup ? I was hoping to just remove air con pump and fit a belt

Standard bracket, lose the pump add the adjustment link to the alternator so it's position can be changed. Pop on the
alternator belt and set the tension.

As above, any definitive kit/guide to this? Would like to fit a lightweight crank pulley too. Is this possible?
